Hi All,

I have £900 saved for a GPU, question is - do I wait for the ASUS GTX 690 to come in to stock or am I better off with another set up? Maybe 2 or 3 different cards in SLI/Cross Fire? 2 x 7970s?

My only thoughts on holding out for the 690 is I hear it's quieter and cooler that a 7970? I am building a 3930k with 32GB RAM on a Rampage Extreme IV with a Corsair AX1200 PSU so powering multiple GPUs isn't an issue.

Decisions decisions.....

What is everyones thoughts?

If it was my money i'd consider going with 2 670's as they are much cheaper than a 690 but can be quite close in terms of performance

i'm liking the idea of the 670's as i have read the only diffrents between them and the 680's is the price and they use 20 watts less aswell so I can run three of them on a 850 watt psu so yes get two 670's would be my suggestion

Go for 2x 670 4GB Phantoms. More VRAM, cooler, quieter

I would also say go for two 670's. As mentioned above performance wouldn't be too far behind a 690 and you would be paying a lot less.

I have just phoned scan and told them to shove their heavily delayed 680s, and ordered 3x evga 670 from dabs. £309.99 per card, yes please!

Yea, if you are running a 690 on a 1080p monitor, you need your head looking at. a 670/80 and a 27" 2560x1440 monitor would be the best bet IMO. lol uber crossfire sli 1337 690x2 1080p

actually the 680's have 1536 cores and the 670's have 1344 cores

tho thats not a great deal when you look at actual performance, on current games you'll not really notice much difference

Also if you get two of them you have almost got a 690 at only 60% of the price, that said i'm going to do abit more homework on this but i see me buying at lest one of them soon
