Sandy Build

So. I have started a few topics on parts advice, and eventually, over many hours of pondering and comparison, I have decided to go for a P67 build over a X58 build.

I will be buying at around mid-February.

My original build was:

MOBO - ASUS P6X58D-E Motherboard

CPU - Intel i7-950

RAM - MUSHKIN 998826 - 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 6-8-6-24 Ridgeback

GFX - Sapphire Radeon HD6850 Toxic Edition 1GB

HDD - Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB HD103SJ

SSD (For O/S) - OCZ Vertex 2 60GB E Series SSD

DVD - Samsung SH-B123A Blu-ray DVD

CASE - Fractal Design Define R3 Black

CPUCOOLER - Prolimatech Megahalems Rev. B

PSU - Corsair HX-750 Power Supply

And its now changed to:

MOBO - Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD5

CPU - Core i5 2500k

RAM - Mushkin 996826 Ridgeback PC3-12800 (2x2GB) DDR3

GFX - Sapphire Radeon HD6950 2GB

HDD - Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB HD103SJ

SSD (For O/S) - OCZ Vertex 2 60GB E Series SSD

DVD - Samsung SH-B123A Blu-ray DVD

CASE - Fractal Design Define R3 Black

CPUCOOLER - Prolimatech Megahalems Rev. B

PSU - Corsair HX-750 Power Supply

Now pretty much all thats changed is the mobo/chipset combo and the RAM.

Is this a smart choice overall, or should I stick with the x58 build. I will be using PC for mainly gaming, bit of video rendering and CAD programs for study.

Cheers

You may be the rare case where 4GB of RAM is the weak link here if you're doing CAD and rendering video. Maybe 2 X 4GB to start?
