Sandy Bridge Build Guide

Hey,

Currently looking to upgrade my system because it's getting to the point where things are starting to take it's time the loading and renders certain things. I'm not amazing on all the tech so I have a rough idea with a few other options in mind, so I'll break it down and what other bits came across my mind. I appreciated all the help.

My main aspect of the computer is gaming (WOW/FPS) and video editing with a little 3D modelling.

Budget: £700 to £800

OS: Windows 7 64Bit

Current Steup

CPU/Mobo: AMD Althon 64Bit 3200+ // LAN Party ULTRA-D

Ram: Geil 1GB 2x512 Dual Chan

GFX: Sappire ATI Raddon HD570 :: Link

PSU: Cool Master 650w :: Link

HDDS: (Believe all 7200rpm) 1TB / 80GB / 120GB

Monitors: 19" CRT / 19" TFT

-------------------------------------------

The Build

MSI P67A-GD65 £142.45

Intel Core i5-2500K £172.99

AKASA Venom CPU Cooler £34.99

Mushkin 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666 £43.19

NZXT Phantom

Arctic Cooling 4g MX-3 £5.99

Total: £528.73 (Inc. Devliery)

CPU/MOBO : I've waited around for the i5-2500K, not really gone down the over clocking route but with the system and the amazing help that's around on the web I shall look into it further once settle. Thats brings me onto the motherboard. MSI P67A-GD65 or the Asus P8P67 for a little cheaper, the bluetooth isn't really a feature I'm needed and the MSI "OC Genie 2" seems a nice feature to learn about over clocking and what it's about. Although I don't have much knowledge on the Dual Bios, is it worth the extra bit to have that option?

Cooler: CPU Block cooler wasn't my original thought of what I wanted but the reviews look great and seems to be a solid cooler.

I was looking at the Corsair H50 which seems to be a great cooler but may need a better fan replace due to the noise, your thoughts on the Corsair cooler or just stick the fan?.

Ram: I've have no clue aobut the voltage and timings so this is much on a gamble and the price etc. I've seen a few people talk about this ram within the forums. any other suggestion is more than welcome if the noticeable improvements without to much ££ going up that's great

Case: For the case, not sure black or white yet. Personally I like the look and think it's future proof if I want to upgrde again and looking at the reviews the cable management and sound (quiet) is really nice to. Though if someone recommends one for a great value with looks and good cable management as I like to keep things neat then please do so

Conclusion:

I'm hoping I can keep hold on to the PSU and I know the graphics isn't the greatest on the market but I want to get a better PC up and kicking before I upgrade the graphics as it currently plays the games I'm running.

I'm thankful for all the people that take to read this and help.

Hope you had a good Xmas and new year

If things are overclocked by the shop, they will be tested and guaranteed at that overclock, no stability headaches.
