Ryzen Today

Hello everyone, my name is Saff, I work freelance in cinematography, and I'm a long term Mac user, from back when they were only used by pretentious types.

I'm recovering from an injury, and thought it would be a cathartic experience to build my first PC, and a desk before my iMac gives up the ghost. I've scrambled my brain learning what components go into making PC's, and what technologies exist, like PCIe lanes, MLC, TLC, NVMe based SSDs. Which i can honestly say I don't entirely understand.

I've really enjoyed O3CD on YouTube, so I thought I would try and share my plans with you here to help straighten them out, and maybe offer any nuggets I've picked up and completely misinterpreted.

Also, Ryzen NDA lifts today, so no one is likely to see this, but hi! ٩(◕‿◕)۶

We saw your post Saff and welcome to the OC3D forums, look forward to seeing your new build come together and you are more than welcome to pick our collective minds for help.

Can you type with the usual font please, I'm really struggling to read that at my res.

Welcome though :)

Hello and welcome to the forums.

Looking forward to seeing the Ryzen review go live today. Should be interesting.

Thank you everyone for the hearty welcome, my employment of Ryzen in the title was shameless, but i imagined there was enough hype for me to ride a wee wave.

I'm glad i waited for the reviews before taking the plunge, i enjoyed TTL's detailed review, even if i didn't quite understand everything. And while Ryzen is wonderful for what it does, if i'm honest, the 7700K appears to make more sense for my needs. If single core grunt matters to me, I've managed to find a a binned 5.1Ghz 7700K delided for around £410+tax/duty or I could get one from Amazon.

I'm going to see how things pan out over the next month, I'm more or less shifting from a panned Ryzen/Vega system to a very likely Intel/Nvidia one.

Apologies for my previous font shenanigans.

Big Love,
Saff
