An interesting set of results, nice to know at 1440p my 980Ti will do really well! Hopefully itll scale really well in SLI!

Nice write up Mark. What genuinely surprises me is the difference in visual quality at each setting. More games recently seem to have little or no discernible difference once you get to the higher quality levels.

And does the opposite with a 970 lol. I'll stop this game until I have a better card... Pascal... :)

I'll read it shortly, cheers Mark!

Awesome work Mark, best game review yet. Really good to see how far you are pushing yourself dude. Be proud, I am.

Unsurprisingly the 380 dominates the 960. However it is also really nice to see the Fury X be either ahead or nicking on the heels of the 980ti without a proper driver while the 980ti has had a driver for it already. Hopefully the new driver you test improves the game performance.

Very nice writeup. They get more detailed and thorough every time:)

Great write up and some serious work behind the scenes I imagine. I'm really looking forward to playing this and your results reinforce this :).

If I can be cruel to be kind for a second - you need a proof reader to catch the infrequent errors, but it doesn't detract from the essence of the review. God, I'm sounding like the Grammar Nazi of the forum :p

You called?

Can you tell me which monitors you used please dude?

Decent write up. Nice to see a full length one too :)

Nice write up Mark good stuff :)

EDIT: just a heads up here I found another review that used the 290X Vapor X and the game is still playable at 1080p
at least :)

This is quite demanding. I thought it would only be a little harder to run than the 2013 Tomb Raider, which still looks very good today, but it appears to be quite a challenge. I played Tomb Raider a few months back and it's still a very nice experience. I'm going to struggle in this new one to hit 60 FPS with a Fury at 1440p. The difference in the shadows and lighting between High and Very High is noticeable, but I don't think the performance will be good enough. I think I'll wait until Polaris is out before I buy this game.

I really want to play this as Tomb Raider has been my favorite game series since the first one came out on Playstation. After reading all the reviews and comments, not sure my GTX-770 is going to handle the game without turning everything down.

There is also another bug in the game right now that can cause problems. Apparently after a couple of hours of gaming with it the protection causes your memory to fill completely causing pretty bad slowdown.

Denuvo, apparently. It also causes graphical glitches and issues once the memory is full.

As for whether the 770 can hack it? that depends on resolution and settings obs. I would say you will definitely be able to play it, but doubt you will be able to run it at maximum settings.

Brilliant write up !

Nvidia really need to take note of the performance of Pure Hair.

Not only does it look the great danes nads but the performance hit is minuscule compared to Hairworks which IMHO as an Nvidia owner doesn't look anywhere near as good as Pure Hair and kills performance due to stupid amounts of tessellation.

thanks for the comment. My monitor is an old dell and resolution it wont do 1080p. I could play TR2013 on Ultra settings and avg 50-60 fps and thought it looked good. I will wait for the patches to come out to fix it before I dive in. Oh well, there is always 2013 for the 8th time, lol

The game looks really good, and whilst performance is not great or ideal the game feels really smooth.

Running it maxed out at 4K and getting between 30-60fps but mostly around 35fps all the time but again it feels really smooth.

I'm just converting a video at 4K and will get it uploaded so if anyone wants to see the footage, and the Guvnor and other mods don't mind I can post a link to it later when it's uploaded.

I have not been using MSI Afterburner or anything because given how good this game looks I don't want to spoil it by having the Onscreen Display running and spoiling it, it is at 53% converted and still has about 1.5 hours to go, then it will take about 2 hours to upload and around 8 hours for Youtube to process it.

**Edit**

Video is finally processed and 4K is available.

If you would like the video to be removed that is fine and can be removed.
