After many weeks of waiting, I finally had enough of one retailer prancing around shipping me a H100i, so I went elsewhere, Ordered Sunday Evening, Delivered this Morning :)

System Info:

AMD FX 8350
Sabertooth 990FX R2
8GB RipjawsX 1600
Asus 560Ti 448 DCII
Toughpower 1200Watt

Figured I'd share some pictures, as well as a last min addition to cooling the VRMs... Case really needs a clean too! :D

Box:

Old Cooler:

Cooler Uninstall:

Cooler Removed and Stock Socket Mounts installed. CPU Cleaned:

Top Fan Removal:

H100i stuff at the ready!

Fan Install (Pull config)

Block install:

Install complete:

Took around 30 to 45 mins to complete, One of the easiest installs ever done in my experience.

Temps have certainly improved, and finally something that can cool this beast heat generating chip!

But, during overclock, noticed the VRMs getting way hot. Looked around for what I could do and remembered I had an old Corsair Dominator fan cooler.

And thus:

Made the VRMs 15 to 20c cooler! :)

Quite a simple mod to do, just remove one clamp, and then hook the other over the motherboard/ or motherboard tray.

Just testing overclocks thus far, no results to post yet, but it looks like 4.8Ghz @ 1.46v. Seems this chip doesn't overclock as well as my friends one. His is at 4.9Ghz @ 1.41v

Any questions feel free :)

Nice we got the same case. Is there any particular reason your pulling air in the case instead of chucking it out ?

I Have my h100i fans blowing up and out with front and back case fans sucking in

he has got it in a pull config mate its pulling air through his rad an out the top, got mine in the same config its just easier to clean thats all

Hey

looks awesome :)
does the h100i pipes annoy you as much as they annoy me... i just wish they were on the left hand side.
and you have plenty of room to push and pull will you trial that?

Looking back at these pictures, I really need to clean out my case sometime. Cameras make it look so much worse ;)

I'm a little bit disappointed with my 8350. I can only achieve 4.7Ghz at roughly 1.43 - 1.404v I get lovely temps. But 4.8Ghz requires 1.488v and thus It starts to push the temps to around 55 to 57c While this is fine of course, I don't know if there's much gain to be had with 100Mhz.

Temp wise it's around 52 to 53 on Prime @ 4.7 and on 4.8 it's around 55 to 57.

Compared to the last 8350 I clocked was at 4.9Ghz and a vCore of 1.41, But then again that machine had only one DIMM populated. I might remove a stick and see what's what. I guess 4.7Ghz is nice clock, I just want moar! :D

Sod it, I'm sticking with 4.8Ghz, It's currently 1 hours or so into Prime95, and temps are a steady straight 55.

thats still a nice clock man tho with your rear fan i would personally turn it around, just so you have positive air pressure in your case just a thought

*edit* i may be wrong in thinking that its an exhaust

Yeah, I guess. I dropped the voltage down to 1.476. It failed after 2 hours. Now back up to 1.488, Now sitting at 56-57c Still within the threshold, but then again this is the max temp, Truthfully no app will stress the CPU this much, well that I use anyway!

I did debate on changing the fan round, and I might just do it, Have all the case fans as intake and then the H100i at the top as the exhaust.

yeah thats good tho fella having the rear as an exhaust would be counter productive i think, i have mine set up will all but the h100i as intake so thats 3 intake 2 exhaust

I just changed around the fans on my h100i to your postition.. Im finding them a quite noisey in pull config,,, gonna switch to push into the case and see if it makes a difference.. Im also getting exact same temps as my h60 with fans on quiet mode...

Edit..

Do you think some rubber washers could dampen the noise of these fans?
Gonna take a quick drive down to the hardware shop me thinks...

Not sure what the fan noise is like in the push configuration, But yes, it's pretty noisy.

I've set up a custom curve in the Link software. I never really cared for quietness, and always ran my fans 100%. But this past month or so my attitude towards fan noise has changed. On the custom curve idle is around 1600RPMs and this gives me around 37c on the socket temp. But no idea of course with the core temps since anything below a certain range with AMD is unreliable.

I also changed the back exhaust fan to intake as well. I probably actually don't need the fans on the VRMs now. Although they spin at 5600RPMs and whine like a bitch, and I think one of the fan bearings is going but they look kinda cool hehe!

I honestly couldnt stand the stock fans noise to performance ratio, so I bought some noctua ff f12's an now my rig is almost silent its great

Well I have them at 7v an I think I knocked 1c or so off them, but its the quiet I like to be honest might of been a lil more am not sure

Yeah, I might have to have a look at some.

I like my cooling, but now I like my quietness, It's trying to find that balance. Although, my fan curve is working pretty well, Just need to fine tune it a bit better.

Why not buy some more sp120's An stick them in push pull an just knock the speeds down again?

Hehe, I guess I don't. I will remove it, it is rather loud to be honest.

I shall look at getting another set of fans for push pull.
