hey guys,

Ive been living in LGA2011 land way to and haven't kept at all with the other chip sets and sockets and this has caused a dilemma as my MMA coach has asked if i could put a tower together for them well actally get all the parts take them over there and build it in front/with them so his son feels like he has built it etc.... anyway moving on-

• Where are you located? Australia
• What is your budget? $1200 (give or take with in reason)
• Will you need a monitor, keyboard, and/or mouse included in that budget? accounted for.
• Shall you be requiring an OS? accounted for.
• What will you be using this rig for? Gaming and school work.
• If gaming, what resolution will you be playing at? No idea i dont game anymore but He has just turned 12 so for at least the next few years in sure it'll see every game under the sun.
• Will you be overclocking? NO!
• Do you need a full build or will you be reusing some old parts? I have a Coolermaster HAF X laying around so I'm donating that to the cause and I think I might sell them 1 or maybe both of my GTX660 OC cards nice and cheap (they were only bought 3 months ago)

I remember when i built my first PC when i was not much older then him and how exciting it all was. So as well as practicality and functionality i wanna be able to make it look awesome, so a cool looking Mobo and I'll prob buy him a RGB led kit. I want his friends to be overcome with pure envy and jealousy and for him to be proud of his rig!!

CPU: LGA 1150 i5 4670k(i know no OC'ing but you can always undervolt and keep it running cooler)
Motherboard:MSI Z87 G45/65
SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 256gb or Corsair Neutron GTX 240gb(love mine). Pick a minimum of 120gb as it runs out quick. Games eat that away fast.
Cooler: H100i if it can fit in a Haf X and if not then a H80i.
Psu: Corsair AX 650watt(can handle 660 SLI) or a Seasonic 660X

Did i leave anything else out? You have a Case and GPU/s so I am pretty sure that covers it:)

Then any 8gb kit should do it.

Also if it is cheaper to go for an AMD 8320/50 then i would go for that route along with a GIGABYTE 990FX-UD3, MSI 990FXA-GD80, or a ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0. All around the same price as the intel motherboard. I would have linked to prices and such but as you live in Australia i can't really get good links:p

Also: If extra sotrage is needed go for a hard drive. Though in my opinion new PC's should only run ssd's but that's just me:p

^this is how its all looking.

Minus the GPU's coz I'll take them out of my tower. Minus the case coz i already have it.

I'm going to go price hunting but i built this as a reference list because PCCG are quite competitive on most things.

Also is it even worth putting in a bluray- burner/player we all use portable hard drives now dont we?

Not worth it no. Also that rig is slightly overbudget(even without case/gpu) and i had a quick look around and found items for cheaper:

G.Skill Sniper
also this Corsair RM series PSU
and lastly this Samsung Evo 250gb

This should cut back on that budget and leave his parents happy to save money. If you wanted to change my changes the only one i would consider changing would be the SSD to the Pro version; just so happens to be the biggest price reduction difference i made though.
