Review: Noctua NH-U12P SE1366

If your paste is evenly and thinly spread when removing the cooler your mounting method should be fine. Maybe you just have a hotter chip and/or motherboard.

Of course the ambient helps a lot too... My chilly room @ 17.5C will definitely give better results than your 23C. In fact, the difference is ~5.5C and I'm suprised it 'only' gives a difference of about 10C under load.

However, the 0.1v vCore difference should give you lower temps :/ *puzzled*

it is strange must be like you say a hotter chip and warmer room temp???

could be a a 965 in disguise:coffee::p

not to worry still temps are very good in 24/7 use, am pleased with the cooler, much better quality than the asus triton

965 in disguise, you wish :+

It's the only explanation I have really, higher ambient and hotter chip. But if you're happy with your temps and your chip is holding back your OC anyway, no problem :)

Fixed it bugged me a little so I tried one last time, but as I re checked all mounting I noticedI left the black plastic m/board washers from my triton on the board, I removed them and.....

still a little warm given my voltage but I guess my chip must indeed run a little hotter

Nope, good fit. When the case is on its feet (or wheels, depending on what you prefer) the side fan is actually below the cooler. And even if it was located higher you'd have about a cm left.

Yeah the colours aren't exactly a pleasure for the eye :p I don't mind though, my rig is under the desk and my head is usually above.

I got myself a Cool Link Silenator for my 775 and it looks/is identical to this right down to the piano wire brackets.

Quick google indeed gives a few forums that say Cool link and noctua seem to have an affiliation of some sort. Lucky you, this is a good cooler :D
