Rev 1 or rev 2 gpu block

I've manged to find out that the HIS 7950 has a reference pcb . But I need a little help on the block choice . I'm looking at the Alphacool ATXP full cover block . The problem comes is they do 2 versions a rev 1 and a rev 2 the rev 1 has a small cut out for the vrm where as the rev 2 has a hollow and built up area for the vrm to fit under . Looking at the pcb it doesn't have a single row of capacitors , it has a double stagared row . So to my mind I would need the rev 2 . Not sure if that makes sense to you so here are a couple of pics .

I personally would say Type 2.
I had VRM heat issues at the Alphacool ATXP rev 1 because of no active cooling for the VRM's.
GPU stays cool but the VRM's ramping up to 100°+ C.
I Changed to Aquacomputer with a max of 39° C GPU and 42° C VRM's.

Aquatuning compatibility list says for Type 2:

HIS Radeon HD 7950 3GB GDDR5 (H795F3G2M)
HIS Radeon HD 7950 IceQ 3GB GDDR5 (H795Q3G2M)
HIS Radeon HD 7950 IceQ Boost Clock 3GB GDDR5 (H795QC3G2M)
HIS Radeon HD 7950 IceQ Turbo 3GB GDDR5 (H795QT3G2M)

Your card looks like 7950 reference should be Type 2.

Just have a look at the list above in the parenthesis.

The Rev 2 got active VRM cooling.
You might try this, but keep an Eye on the VRM Temps!

Cheers mate, From looking over the last couple of days, that is pretty much what I decided on. Thanks for the advice too mate I will bare that in mind.

Your HIS Card has is exectly the same as my 7950 from sapphire... Just the plastic shroud around the fan is different..

My vrms get up to 100c at 1100mhz, let me know how the cooling goes for you, I may have to do the same...

Cheers mate. That's lucky I have just put the order in for the rev 2 , and the card . Looking at the blocks the rev 2 was obvious really . On the rev 1, it only has a small cut out slot for a single row of caps. Whereas the rev 2, has a bigger kinda machined out bit . Other than the vrm's getting hot, what was the actual gpu cooling like ?

80c on crysis 3 max settings till my power supply went kapooof. This stock cooler is really pants.. I think im going to pick up a ARCTIC Accelero Xtreme 7950 edition as I dont have the budget to watercool yet.. Got a corsair HX650 on the way for power..

Not bad I thought it would have been hotter, with the vrm's being at around 100. I was going to go for the 7970, but didn't see the point in the end . So 7950 it is, with the pennies saved, I have managed to buy the extra 360 rad, and everything needed to install straight away.So I will post some temps tomorrow, that is if nothing is out of stock. ( I've had bad luck with stock lately )

I have heard pretty good things about the Accelero S1 plus, You can fit a pair of 120's on it if you didn't wan't to go for there turbo module kit.

edit that not compatible with the 7950/70 . It does support the new 8000 series cards though ( when released ) The 8 series cards must be pretty close if they are producing after market coolers that fit.
