Did anyone have those small consoles (toys) that played only one game and run on batteries or a 9v adaptor from the early 80's? They had a little LED screen. I had Pac Man, and it had a roundish shape and was bright yellow. I had another that played Defender (or similar) too. The defender one had a tiny little joystick and fire buttons. Been trying to find a pic of them to show what I mean. I am sure they will still be in the attic at my Mum's house.

EDIT: Found a site that tells you about the Pac Man game:

First tape based game I bought was Hunchback 64 I believe. Had Arcadia 64 with the computer bought from Alders in Cardiff iirc, and the c2n cassette deck was out of stock. Had to w8 a month or so b4 I could use it.

Games eventual got as big as taking 45/50min to load ! Can remember having programming magazines that had code printouts in them that u had to type in. Pretty sure that was what got me into coding, wanting to know what all the data values were actually for.

After a while some smart-arse came up with compacting and fast loading.

Vic 20 I inherited from some1 with Lunar Lander cartridge in it.

(all still in the attic I believe, got a tall stack of Amigas and commodores along with boxes of kit. someday I'll break them out)
