Reseating h80 - Applying Thermal Paste

Hello Tom and forum members!

This is my first post in the forum, have been a long time fan of the TTL youtube channel and the oc3d website.

Long story short, I need to re-seat my h80 block and I have ordered NT-H1 thermal paste to do this. I'm just wondering what the best way to apply the thermal paste would be, i.e apply the paste to the cpu like an air cooler OR to the block like how it came originally? Has anyone experimented with this? My processor is a 3930k if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance

a pea-sized blob (~5mm dia.) in the center of the cpu's heat-plate, is perfect.

when tightening the heatsink, do so with adjacent screws (not the ones on the same side at the same time).

once tightened firmly, run the PC and does something CPU-stressful for 15mins... this will settle the paste.

once this has happened, turn off the PC and tighten the heatsink screws more (if possible)

Wow thanks for all the replies guys! After all that I ended up biting the bullet and buying a h100i. Although no doubt ill be re-seating that in the future anyway so this info will come in handy :)
