Redline @ OC3D F@H Prop's & Bragging Thread..

Gratz, I just noticed you in my taillights, so I had to bring out the big guns...

Actually managed to get my 680 working!

Btw, what hardware u Folding on Gardella?

/D

Thanks guys - I have 3 rigs going (well, 2 and a half I guess) - an i7-2600 @4.5 with a 670, an i5-3570 at 4.3 with a 570, and a i3-3220 in an htpc. Two of those three are folding at all times (for the most part)

Finally got around setting up v7 with my new cards, pretty decent performance i thinks :)

This has taken awhile to achieve, but finally hit a 7 day 24 hr average of 600K+ PPD!!B)

Core 17 and some AMD hardware are to thank for this, still have 4x 560 ti and 2x 480's Nvidia cards but they pale in comparison to the AMD stuff. Not too many points and way too much heat....

These cards 2x 7970 and 2x 7950 are solid for 400K PPD:)

I'm loving the 7950s for folding. They run soo cool and quiet all the while putting out lovely PPD. I'm seeing 85k per card PPD.

Congrats on the 600k 24hr average! You are putting out some awesome numbers.

Hey blah, use Sapphire Trixx and crank up the voltage to 1.275ish and clocks to around 1170 or more for some high 90K to low 100K PPD.

A SSD could help a little on PPD also, notice that every 4 minutes or so the core goes inactive, down clocks to 2D speed for 45 seconds or so then resumes to normal clocks and load. During this time it appears to be writing to disc....

If you were to run upto 2*7950/7970 in a single rig - what would be the most optimal processor to use to keep the power draw to a minimum? (assuming no smp folding)

I'd try a dual core. I'm running SMP with my AMD cards and I allow a full core per card, seems to help the cards PPD more than the SMP loss.

When you get into the higher end of this QRB GPU folding the gains are not linear, so every second per frame counts. 2 seconds per frame faster is more gain than 2 seconds per frame slower's loss would be.

OK, so G2020 or G2130 or i3 3220?

What ppd difference are you seeing between the 7950 & 7970?

Can you give me a rough estimate of the power draw at the wall for a single 7950 with one of the above processors?

I assume you guys are running Win7?

I see about 10 to 12K difference, so the 7950's are definitly the best PPD/$.

I don't have any means of measuring power draw but can tell you that these cards put out far less heat than my 4 and 5 series Nvidia cards and they run about 10C cooler.

I can help on power draw - I recently replaced my gtx570 with a 7950. I'm running 3 core SMP on my i5 3570k at 4.3. Power draw for whole system is 261 watts when folding.

I have my cards set at that speed/voltage now. One card is already up another 6k PPD.

I noticed that as well. The inactivity is much shorter on the rig with an SSD.

I'm not doing SMP on these rigs. Is there anything I need to do to give a core to the GPU client?
