Redline @ OC3D F@H Prop's & Bragging Thread..

Just put my new CaseLabs iTX rig online. First few moments of folding and temps are very awesome. 42c on GTX 980 GPU and 70c on 4.4 ghz i7 4770 CPU at full load. I need to OC the GPU and see what we get. Client reports 370K points after only a few moments

Oh wow, double the PPD! That more of a boost than I expected.

EDIT: If I have a single application open, such as Spotify or even a single web browser then the GPU backs down to base clocks. WTF Folding!? With the 980 Ti that was a difference in 100MHz and was hardly noticeable, but the 1080 Ti clocks down by a whooping 500MHz!

After some time I'm again Folding for a bit. I don't know how it will continue though, as it may become somewhat constant...

I bought myself a second EVGA Geforce 1080 FE on which I put an EK waterblock. I figured that for 4k this upgrade would make more sense than switching to a 1080 ti, especially because the 1080 FE I already had was such a sweet overclocker and ran 2100 MHz stable 24/7.

Now I thought I'd stresstest the second one too. I overclocked both to 2072 MHz, which I figured was plenty if I needed the extra boost at some point. The "stresstest" in this case is F@H which is now running back home 24/7 for a few days, while I had to go on a trip...

Unfortunately the gaming experience kinda sucks with 2x 1080. The games I really wanted the extra power for, do not seem to support SLI, so I can't say I really benefit from the second card.

I definitely won't return it, because it is kinda sweet having that extra power if needed, and I bet at some point I'll buy a game and be thrilled that I do have the second card.

After the stresstest concludes on Wednesday, I kinda have a couple of options. I am considering folding on that second 1080 whenever my computer is turned on. Whether this makes sense approaching the summer time, I don't know.

Either way this stresstest will be pretty cool, because I do hope to see over 1M points today, tomorrow and on Tuesday. F@H Control actually predicted 1.5M PPD which I kinda doubt, but if it is true, I could add 5M this week. :)

Wow, that's good going. I need to get a folding rig back together at some point this year, there just seems to be a lot of other things ahead of it in the queue...

I think it is safe to say that my two cards are really stable even at 2072 MHz Core and 1376 Memory clock.

My F@H run will conclude after this final WU, which ought to finish in roughly 2h.

How I will run things in future, I don't know... But if I'll fold with the second card, I'll let you guys know :)

Edit:

Small test with HT turned off. I remember HT bottlenecking the 1080 while folding... So I tried that and the PPD went up a bit:

If those numbers are realistic or just a result of nice WUs, I don't know
