Redline @ OC3D F@H Prop's & Bragging Thread..

Yeah you are crushing me on frame times. I'm at 47min and 52 min on 6903. (3.2 and 3.6 days of 5 day preferred deadline). I'm not exactly running "preferred" hardware though. I had 7 SMP clients going and wanted to see what 2 of them could do with bigadv. The experiment really showed how out of whack the point system is. One of the systems got 12,000PPD on a SMP 7611(slowest WU I've seen), and 80,000 on big adv. To large of a change in my mind for exact same hardware. Science is more important then the points though.

Nice work by both of you guys!!

I did notice kilo's big day but at the time I couldn't post because of a lingering problem from the fourm change over...

Yeah, first of all its about science. But its weird how different point system is working.
Wu 76xx,79xx is a real pain, think i will uninstall v7 client on my gf`s rig and my own 3770k rig, just to avoid them.
And as Steve says, were doing well. Thanks for noticing ^_^

Closing in at 2mill ppd, this team is awesome :worship:

What cpus are you running -bigadv on?

Im looking at what I can do to scrape some money together for some more folding power over the next few months.

I`m running an i7-970 and an i7-3930k installed with ubuntu linux and the 6.34 smp-client.The 3930k is almost 25% faster than the 970.
The i7-970 will do 90k ppd on a 6903 and i7-3930k is 130k ppd.

Yes,its more stable and will give way more big-adv`s.
Could be me,but the exhaust feels slightly cooler.
But you have to use ubuntu linux version 11.04 and 6.34 client.

Have you tried Ubuntu 12.4 with the V7 client? I had that running on a laptop and a desktop.

Matt

No,havent tried that, but think itll run the same wu`s as a windows install, and therefore no bigadv wu`s.It would be pointless.

From what I have read you have to set:
max_packet_size
big

and you will get the bigadv but only works with the 64bit version.

I`m running the v7 on my 3770k windows install and if i have to make adjustments in the v7 client to get better wu`s on a linux install, why not use the smp-client. Its little to no effort when you know howto.

As I noted above I'm not running preferred hardware. It's 8 thread CPU's, but the conversation gets so dicey around that subject I don't really talk about it.

So the minimum for bigadv is 12 threads. Hope that doesn't change anytime soon.

At this second it is. This is hard to decipher http://folding.typepad.com/news/2012/02/update-on-bigadv-16-the-new-bigadv-rollout.html

"Please expect a beta announcement soon for testing these new bigadv-16 work units. Then, after the new bigadv-16 projects stabilize, we will bring the bigadv-12 projects into line (points, deadlines) with the bigadv-16 projects and convert all projects to bigadv-16. We are not sure of the timescale for this yet, as we'd like to test the new projects in a thorough manner. We will endeavor to be as transparent as we can regarding upcoming changes in the bigadv program. Bigadv-8 projects will likely be phased out (and indeed are mostly not being assigned at this time)."

I'm not sure what he means by converting all projects to bigadv-16, would that phase out bigadv 12, or that all projects will work when requesting bigadv 16.

As for the whole bigadv thing. Pretty much 64bit Linux any flavor, v6 or v7 client and that's it. Set bigadv, and max-packet size.

A huge congratz to Redline@OC3D, we currently have 41 folders in the RED at EOC stats. That means 41 team members with a PPD of 6K or greater, this is a tremendous accomplishment!!!!

Well done Team!!:D

(And probably a shout out to TTL for promoting F@H and this awesome team)

tomorrow is my 1month anniversary of folding, lets see how many more positions i can jump before then shall we? i've jumped a fair few already in the last 30 days lol

Well done Team :). The numbers increased massively after the shout out and we are producing nearly 2 million PPD now, which is absolutely awesome :D

I just came in here to give the team a pat on the back to find out it has already been done. :-)

With my main rig offline and only my folding rig ticking away at my parents house I have been knocked down to 19th place on the top producers list, that's with a PPD of 24k. Simply amazing.

So big props to the team as a whole!

I've finally got my GPU temps down from around 90 C to 72 C :). The card was extremely dusty after only a couple of months.
