Recycled DRAM - Manufacturers are using old server memory to produce new DDR4 memory

Conversely, server bound chips were presumably the best of the best so some of these might be made of 'right stuff'
 
I think the ECC part is a separate chip on the module. So if they don't put it on there then yeah, it won't work as ECC.

It sounds like they are harvesting chips from unsold modules.

You are correct. I forgot unlike ddr5 ECC lies on an extra piece of silicon.
 
As long as it's priced accordingly and marked as such, then I cannot see the issue as people will know they are "Re-Used" Flash Modules.

Personally it wouldn't bother me using these as they are going to have a warranty and should be the same as a normal stick of ram.
