Hey all,
I have a little Antec 300 Case housing my media server. It's an old hand-me-down system, consisting of an ASUS P5Q Motherboard, Q6700, GTX 570 and 4gb ram. A modest system, but perfect for the task.
The problem I have is that it's quite limited space-wise for Hard Drives. Technically it could take NINE HDD's in total, so three in each of the dedicated 3.5" bays, and another three in the 5.25" bays using mounting kits. However, in reality there just isn't room when you include the other hardware & cables.
The GTX 570 - even though it's one of the shorter "HD" varients - effectively blocks an HDD bay, taking me down to 5 dedicated. Using the 5.25" bays seems like a good option, but it just isn't from a cabling perspective.
So, basically, I'm looking for a recommendation of a Full Tower case, that can mount NINE 3.5" Drives natively - so NOT requiring me to use any 5.25" bays it might have - while being roomy enough that it's an easy build and can be done TIDILY considering the number of SATA Power and Data cables that'll be in use.
While I do water cool my Gamer, water cooling ability isn't a high priority for this case, though the option for a reasonable 360 rad and res internally might be nice to keep the rig quiet.
The priorities for this build are SPACE, both for HDD's and tidy cable routing, fair air-flow as the hardware is currently all air-cooled, though I have blocks for everything if I choose to go that route. Pirice-wise, well the cheaper the better of course, but I'd rather not spend too much over £100 if I can help it.
So, what are peoples thoughts? Has anyone been particularly impressed with a case when doing a similar build themselves? If so, I'd be keen to hear about your experience.
Cheers,
Scoob.
