Re-start Problem

Sorry if am in the wrong bit, but my problem is that my computer started restarting itself randomly? I would be in the middle of something then Off goes the screen and it restarts with the mircosoft "you have just recovered from a serious error" message.

Then the other day it got stuck in an endless restart loop, as soon as the windows desktop came on, it would restart.

I then had no choice but to re-install windows, and everything was fine, but it has now just restarted again, its like a power cut but the Mach11 doesnt loose power.

Any Ideas?

If it was all fine and then just started randomly playing up,condensation on the motherboard would be my first worry. It could also be cpu degradation,if it has run big volts for long periods.

Thanks for that,

I have always used NOD32 for virus protection, but I lost that when I reinstalled windows, so I installed zone alarms which found 827 infections!

I nearly had a heart attack!

Could that be the cause?

Damm! It just did it again!

Could the power supply be at fault? or does it seem more likley that Thickbrit is spot on that its either the cpu or m/b consendation?

Am planning to do a major upgrade in march, so am hoping not to have to change any bits until then.

What would course USB ports not to work? After a restart my USB mouse wouldnt work/light up and a usb hub wouldnt light up/work?

Then this morning I noticed my main Fan wasnt working, just doing a quarter turn and stopping until it finally after about 2/3 mins started working normally?

Is this down to a power issue? or maybe m/b.

I think that motherboard is croaking on you. What psu are you suspecting ?,the seasonic ?

Control Panel> Performance and Maintenance> System> Advanced> (Start up and Recovery) Settings> (System Failure) uncheck box “Automatically Restart”.

Next time your PC will crash with BSOD and you’ll be able to see error code, write down error’s every time your PC crashes and search for answers in Google. Answers won’t be 100% correct always, but at least you will get some idea what could be wrong.

Hope it helps ;).

I get this if i clock too far, although, it will only happen after say, a short period of time. The other day i got my X2 4200 up to 2.8 and was in Windows browsing the web and runnin superpi, when i just got a restart. I have recently rerouted all my wiring and now i cant get it to boot into its previously stable 2.762mhz clock. Im blaming my CPU, as im running 4 fans as well as two hdds, one optical and its only a 500w.

Sorry, im not thread jacking here, just to say i have a similar problem, and i think its my cpu.

nice overclock there too! :)
