The soundcard is great but I don't know anything about the headset you've chosen, I use Sennheiser PC350's myself and they're great for gaming, can you get OC3D's headset of 2011 the Steelseries 7H?
Good headphone and excellent sound card.
The only flaw in my opinion is the sound card. It's the best audiophile sound card but this is not the best for gaming. A sound card specifically for the game costing much less, except the one that Asus will be releasing shortly.

The STX is brilliant for everything, I think he was saying its overkill. How into audio are you? The STX is top of the line so unless you really really care about audio quality it wont be worth it for you. Also to take advantage of that card you will need some decent cans, no "gaming" headset will ever need a soundcard that good.
I have the STX paired with beyerdynamic dt-990s and the sound quality is amazing. If you want the best sound possible go with the STX and some decent cans, something made by beyerdynamic, Dennon, audio technica, Sennheir etc will be good. But it costs a lot...
If you arent massively into audio then you can spend a whole lot less and get an asus xonar DX and some Sennheiser HD 280s and clip on/desk mike and still have great quality. Whatever you get just dont get something marketed as a gaming headset because you can always to better with proper cans for the same or less money.
Hope that helped.
Is the STX still an overkill for Sennheiser PC350?
