To say this case is abhorrent is an understatement. You need to read the news item for yourself.

The thing which strikes me the most, apart from the actual case itself, and the seeming additional example of social services over here (the UK) Messing up again, is the sentance handed down to this person;

..was sentenced to a life term for each of the 25 rapes he had admitted and will serve at least 19-and-a-half years..

So, life term tmes 25, and serve a minimum of 19 odd years? Now I didnt pay attention in maths at school, but something doesnt add up here. The sentancing used in the UK is just wierd, why cant we have a US-esq system, "life without possibility of parole", thats final, thats to the point.

I read from that sentance, that he'll be infront of a parole board in 20 years. Why? Lock him up and throw away the key, leave him in general prison population and see what happens.. Even better, just take him outside and shoot the bugger.

Agreed! It's horrific stuff and what a legacy that the father has left his children...

Nobody should have to endure what he put his family through, and the thought that he could be paroled in 20 years because he's a model prisoner - what a crock. My mother works as a nurse in a prison hospital, and she says time and again that sex offenders never rehabilitate, so what's the next step?

While capital punishment should be used as a last resort, why should we be made to support prisoners who are statistically inclined to re-offend with such heinous crimes. We could always approach it like the Chinese - one shot to the back of the head and then charge the executed prisoner's family for the price of the bullet. Whether it acts as a deterrent is another thing.

The justice system also has a lot to answer for by allowing lawyers to 'plea down' a more serious charge to one of a lesser degree for an admission of guilt. Furthermore, I think the judges have lost touch with reality and every day we see evidence of this coming out of our courtrooms. Recently, here in Australia we had a 10 year old aboriginal girl pack raped, and the assailants walked free. I mean wtf kind of spaced out drugs are you on judge - imagine if it were your daughter.

If someone is to be imprisoned for the 'term of his natural life' then so be it, not 15-20 or whatever value they put on a human life these days. Consecutive life sentences should be the same where you spend the rest of your life in prison without chance of parole.

it truly is a joke! I cant help thinking that these lesser punishments are being given out due to the crowed prisons. Who Care's!!! Cram them in and make them uncomfortable!! They should have no rights!

Kill them tbh.

There`s no point in keeping a human alive that is in this condition. Another waste of an existance.

Any1 who wants to keep them alive for 20 years, and then release them, can pay for their upkeep themselves, then have them live with them on release. They`ll also accept full responsibility for anything they may do from that point onwards.

Hmm I've read a few sick stories... This beats them all.

"The attacks on his daughters had led to 19 pregnancies, Sheffield Crown Court heard. " Nineteen pregnancies? He's getting about a year per pregnancy, less than a year per rape... Normally you would get at least 5 years for a rape, and that's when raping someone who's not part of your family!

I'd say do it the american way - 500 years in prison with no chance of early release or a bullet (or something equivalent).

The people who commit such crimes should be dealt one card..... and that card should be "death". Bloody scum.
