To say this case is abhorrent is an understatement. You need to read the news item for yourself.
The thing which strikes me the most, apart from the actual case itself, and the seeming additional example of social services over here (the UK) Messing up again, is the sentance handed down to this person;
..was sentenced to a life term for each of the 25 rapes he had admitted and will serve at least 19-and-a-half years..
So, life term tmes 25, and serve a minimum of 19 odd years? Now I didnt pay attention in maths at school, but something doesnt add up here. The sentancing used in the UK is just wierd, why cant we have a US-esq system, "life without possibility of parole", thats final, thats to the point.
I read from that sentance, that he'll be infront of a parole board in 20 years. Why? Lock him up and throw away the key, leave him in general prison population and see what happens.. Even better, just take him outside and shoot the bugger.
