Random PC Shutdown

So, I'm having more issues with my PC again... this time it shut down in Mass Effect 3.

I checked the event log, this is what I found:

What could this be from, and what is hwinterface?

Also, now my CPU idle temperatures went from 28 to 38 °C.

When it crashed, my fan speeds had skyrocketed!

I do not have my CPU overclocked anymore either.

i asked my sisters BF ( does IT for a living ) about ur problem and he's pretty sure its a

Virus/malware issue .

theirs not much to find on his hwinterface but apperantly its something for a headphone ? ( not sure )

anyways did u try scanning for virusses and malware ?

I have a logitech Mic and G13, that's it for other peripherals. My computer is almost a blank slate aside from a couple installed games and software. I've done scans but nothing came up.

Don't know what else to do.

Can't seem to find much information on hwinterface.sys, all i can recommend would be a system health check e.g. sfc / chkdsk / updates / maybe a malwarebytes quick scan / drivers check / ccleaner / run me3 as admin?

I think it's actually hwinterface.exe that popped up and warned as .sys, but I will do a system health check asap.

ME3 is also running as admin.

Ok, is there ANY way that this could be from the PSU not providing sufficient power to my GPU? Because I have an HX1050W on order and if that isn't necessary... I would rather keep my $170 for something else.

I did a PSU calculation test and it said I required 744W... I currently have 750W.

It MAY be the PSU, I'd rather go for like 100-200W more just to play safe.

Just installed my new AX850 and everything is running flawlessly. No random shutdowns (so far), no freezing on startup, idle temps back down to 25 °C, and SHOCKINGLY.... my GPU idle temps are around 32 °C. They used to be around 45 °C.

There was an odd "spark" sound when I pressed the power button to start up, but I don't think that anything went wrong.

Good to see you are sorted.............just make sure the power cord is pushed right in on that new PSU (re the noise).

Yeah that spark-like noise is just the power cable being a tad loose, but as long as you don't knock it out of place it'll be fine. A friend of mine had a similar issue with his PC a while back, but instead his wouldn't get into Windows at all before it just cut out, turned out it was the PSU too. I put a brand new one in and his PC worked like a treat.

glad to hear everything's sorted, it's always best to go at least 100-200 watts above recommended wattage and you probably called it right with the psu having trouble coping.

be cautious with secure power contacts. it should be firm. when a contact is loose then current that runs through ur system instantly increases and can harm it. make sure everything is at its position
