Ram Question 2

I don't know what to buy when it comes to ram I was willing to spend 100$ on 8gb, 2400mhz ram but they're more than 2133mhz, 250mhz = 25$ more.. worth it? I'm torn between this I have a ivybridge build I want some slick looking blue G Skill, or any "good" brand that makes high freqency ram, I don't want corsair 1866.. Don't want dominators 2133mhz because they're red only reason I won't buy them.. So basically I'm preferably looking for very high frequency DIMS, a 8gb kit -- 2x4 --, Blue

After 1600mhz, speed like that matters very little in windows, and you will see very little performance gain, so no, 2400mhz is not really worth $25 over 2133mhz. But at the same time, the 533mhz gain between 1600 and 2133 is not really worth it either.

Take a look at 1600 or 1866, and see if you can get any lower CAS timing. Also, be aware that Ivybridge doesnt like RAM over 1.5volts so dont go getting 2133mhz ram that is 1.65 because the cpu wont like it

1600MHz is the sweet spot with RAM atm, anything above that starts to be a bit of a waste as you don't see any noticeable performance increases at all. If you can afford fast RAM go for it, but even so i wouldn't bother getting RAM faster than 2133MHz as it's completely pointless, even 2133 itself is a waste tbh. 1600MHz and 1866MHz are the best picks imo

Alright well I took in consideration on what you've guys said and I've decided to save my 25$ I'm down to these two 8gb kits, I love buying corsair products xD, but I want the performance of G.Skill

You have Ivybridge which doesnt like anything over 1.5v for RAM. The G-Skill is 1.65 so not that.

The corsair also have high CAS timings (11-11-11-27)

You'd be far better going down to 1866 or 1600 and look for timings around 9-9-9-24 and it'll perform better than the 2133mhz...

Yeah James is spot on. The Corsairs you linked actually look really good, just a shame about their CAS 11 timings but eh well, i suppose the increased speed outweighs the slacker timings.

Yeah James is spot on. The Corsairs you linked actually look really good, just a shame about their CAS 11 timings but eh well, i suppose the increased speed outweighs the slacker timings.

The timings on the ares is 9-10-9-27 ...i personally own and i'm very satisfied with them !!!

The Mushkin Blackline's I'm using are awesome. Great performance and go straight into 1600Mhz no problems. As has already been mentioned with SB and IB RAM is a bit iffy above the 1600Mhz and 1.5V margin so something within those brackets would be great. My timings are 9-9-9-24 and these were around £40, roughly $65 but prices will vary.
