Could anyone tell me if 6 sets of these would be compatable with an evga sr-2 motherboard or does it need ecc ram?If they are compatible which would be the better set to go for. I am looking to have 48gb of one or the other. If anyone could help today it would be really appreciated as would like to drop into the company and pick the ram up.

I have seen a guy with 2 X 24 gig G.skill sniper kits in an sr-2 so it is a good choice I agree with Dug

Make sure its 2 24 gig kits tho since they match them at the factory.

Both those kits are Dual-Channel. Does it not matter that the EVGA SR-2 is a triple channel motherboard?

I always thought you had to buy triple-channel memory to match the motherboard, though I'm not expert for sure.

it depends what chip you put in it... P67(tri) or P55(dual)

ddr3 ram dual and triple is the same, all it is is matched sticks, no other difference. I am not worried about the sticks being not made in the same batch as wont be overclocking so they shouldnt cause problems. I will only be overclocking the cpus and maybe the gpu's

Triple memory you need to have three sticks 3x1gb 3x2gb 3x4gb etc and for dual channel you need two sticks 2x1gb 2x2gb 2x4gb 2x8gb etc.

What i'm getting at is you can have 3 sticks and use 2 of them for dual channel and if had four could use 3 of them for triple channel.
