Raid 0 Not Working

Hey, for those of you who have been kindly answering my questions to all the errors I've had recently, Guess what? I've got another...

I've just tried to get Raid0 working and I've tried it about 5 times now and I've gone through it exactly how the motherboard guide says and what people say online. It works and everything seems fine until I get to the windows loading bit in which the windows logo appears. But then it freezes and a blue screen comes up quickly (too quick to read anything) and then it restarts the pc. If I then delete the raid etc and put everything back to how it was before, everything works fine and I can boot into windows (Thats how I'm writing this now) so it has something to do with the RAID set-up. I've tried swapping over the sata connections and cleaning it of dust etc but to still no avail. Please has anyone got any advice? all is welcome, thanks.

I get the feeling that you should have set up raid and then installed windows. You may have no choice but to set up raid 0 again and then reinstall windows once more. Not used raid before myself, like I said so wait and see what everyone else says first but you should be prepared for the worst.

lol, thanks for the answer and I hope it doesn't come to that but we shall see. Oh and in case anyone was wondering I've got windows installed on my SSD so is completely separate from the 2 HD's im trying to raid.

Again then I'm completely wrong as I thought you where running windows from striped drives. Didn't realise you had windows on a single SSD.

You mind me asking though why you are trying to raid those drives? What's your goal, fast access times or creating a duplicate copy of your data?

This will help people better aid you if you explain exactly what your trying to do although I'm just going to leave you to it as I'm just getting it all wrong today

Hehe, I have appreciated everything you have said today

and as the SSD is only 128gb and 20gb of that is for windows I can only have My 5-7 main games on it and so the rest of my games will go on the striped HD's as I want fast load times for the other games as well.

If your windows is on a different drive try disconnecting the raid, install the raid driver, then connect the raid.

ok - here is the easy way

1. remove you SSD (with the OS on)
   
2. reboot
   
3. setup RAID on the HDDs
   
4. remove them and re-install the SSD
   
5. boot to windows (just to update the registries)
   
6. shut down
   
7. re-install HDDs in same order
   
8. re-boot
   
9. reassign a drive letter to the array
   
10. done

are you trying to install win on both the ssd and ur raid???? kinda got lost up there.

I'd suggest the ssd for win7 and then once in windows raid the drives in windows for your storage solutions. Control Panel\System and Security/Administrative Tools/Disk Management have the drives unraided upon getting there then click on one and chose ur options for raid. Windows will do the rest

No just on the ssd, but the other 2 Hd's wont raid without having an error coming into windows

EDIT: Sorry for double posting.

EDIT 2: Oh and are you saying raid them while in windows? didn't realise this was possible, do I then need to make changes to bios afterwards or will it be automatically done?

ah ok lol then do what I suggested up top this will do 2 things 4 you.

1) hopefully fix the bsod upon bootup

2) raiding within windows you wont have the raid bios popup before bootup thereby gaining you several seconds less on ur bootup time

So raiding in windows is Identical to raiding them in the bios ? and just quickly do I enable file and folder compression? and quick formatting?

some say that windows raid is a tad snappier than bios raid. with 2 tb of storage I doubt you'll need to worry about compression.
