Radeon HD4870 X2 Readies for Release

"The ATI Radeon HD4870 X2 codenamed R700 is slated for a week 4, July release. This dual-GPU card which features two of the RV770 graphics processors which have been an overnight success for AMD/ATI in their single-GPU avatars, the HD4850 and HD4870, will be priced at US $499. AMD claims that this card will overwhelm the GeForce GTX 280. AMD will be in a position to supply samples for internal testing and quality evaluation by 15th of July and July 24th is slated for completion of testing following which, the product could start shipping. Partners will receive chip samples for non-reference designs. Volume shipments of the chips could commence sometime in August."

Yea true. Even if Nvidia does make a GX2 it will be to pricey and have way to much heat unless watercooled. So in turn AMD seriously have Nvidia by the balls in price to serious performance.
 
will be interesting to see what nvidia do to change things around,imo all they can do is cut the prices wayy down to try to counter
 
If Nvidia owned the same card, they would charge thousands. Go ATI for getting back in the game and offering us more performance for our money. :D
 
as pp says its good for the consumer,which is us at the end of the day,and it also means that nvidia cant sit around re doing the same card over and over again,which they have got away wth for the past year or so
