Quietening Pumps?

Well I got myself a new pump today, an XSPC Laing DDC 18w model. It is fairly quiet, but when it is lifted of the bottom of the case, its much quieter. What would you recommend to quieten it? I saw these rubber raisers which seemed fine, but the pump only seems to have 2 mounting holes which might make it unstable if raised up. I also noticed that the pump has something underneth it meaning anti-vib pads can cause it to overheat. Anyone with help?

iv used anti-vibration pads (or gel pad from petrastechshop.com) and its never overheated. if you don't like that idea you could get rubber spacers or sockets so it does not touch your pump completely.

XSPC said to avoid those as overheating may occour (I know thats spelled wrong... but then its too easy for me..) so I am out of ideas, as mounting it wont work as there are only 2 mounting holes and it might go off balance and even crack the plastic mounting. I could just live with it on the ground and being slightly noisy

placing the pump on a gel pad has been the best way to quiet them for years, and my pump has been on one for about 6 months now without an issue.

If you are worried about overheating, then fit a temp probe to it, most cases/fan controls have this as standard, or some gaming based motherboards have them too. My DDC is normally warm to the touch.

Another idea is getting one of XSPC "L" shaped stands for the pc and mounting that onto the case with some rubber washers.

unfortunatly the L bracket means my res is at 90o which is hardly ideal for filling up... I will just get some rubber washers/spacers, that will do the trick

Yep I'd run with that option too mate as far as longevity of your pump is concerned. The gel pads have been known to cause major overheating...especially with the DDC Ultra.

How?

I don't really see how the gel pads could cause the overheating of the pump...how is this possible?

Because the plastic enclosure where the motor is located doesn't allow the heat to be removed from the pump all that well causing it to burn out if you sit it onto a surface that insulates the heat.

Underneath the pump, there is tiny vent holes which are there to vent warm(10W) or hot (18W) air from the pump... If these holes are covered us sometimes the pump can overheat and burn out..

We have had a few 18W DDC's come back here with the Gel pads litterally welded to the damn pump :)

Check these out that we have just got in, they will give you 4 Point dampening for the DDC:

If you arent feeling flush though, just get yourself the stand alone damper kit and use two of the dampers to mount it something like this:
