QUIET Shuttle AMD project

that case is lush!!!!! ncie buy matey

looks to be coming along nicely. gonna try and dabble with mythTV on ur linux boot?

Yeah I'm certainly gonna give it a go see what I can do mate. I'm up for it :)

Also bought a nifty little USR wireless Net adaptor (USB).

Installed the motherboard last night and loads of components are coming today so I'll pick 'em up and install most of it.

Only thing I'll be waiting for then is:

Scart - Component lead

PC-TV/Scart Lead

PCI-E Riser and TV card

Should be all done by the end of the week.

When net is back up I'll post pics of the build.

Oh yeah gotta love the ghetto 60pce cable ties I bought to control the wires!! £1 from pound shop ;)

Linux is Ubuntu so hoping that'll be ok :)

Oh yeah and still deciding about a wireless keyboard/mouse combo for it too :)

Yeah tis pretty sweet. Shame its not a shuttle ;)

All this is built. I may take some pics before I fire it up. All I'm waiting for is the RAM from Jim. And the TV card but I'm hoping the RAM comes today so I can at least install media centre and start playing :)

For cooling I went for the stock X2 Heatpipe cooler from my 4400+ - I reckong that'll be pretty damn good for cooling :)

Right have everything apart from waiting for RAM off of XMS ;)

Need help with deciding on a keyboard/mouse/input device

Now I have this choice:

Orrrr.....

Windows Media Centre Edition Keyboard + controller

I think the media centre edition stuff comes out slightly cheaper (SCAN) but has no mouse. I can get a cheapo one but meh - looks like I wouldn't really need one with the MCE keyboard :)

With the Keyboard + Mouse combo I would have to buy some soft of surface to use it on the sofa - which isn't really a problem.

What dya all reckon?

i reckon the MS one, because like you said, you wont need a mouse...and it looks simpler for the female to use ;)

I have the dinovo and I love it, I have heard complaints from people about the MS keyboard with the mouse though..

Right well Windows is gonna be installed very soon as I got the RAM through the post today :D

Oh yeah and the Media keyboard + Controller :)

Here's a nice pic - click for a bigger version :D

I like it - what dya think?

that looks the business!

I'm trying to build a SFF amd machine based around the opteron 146 but the options I'm looking at revolve around the XQpack case and a matx mobo.
