Quiet fans for 80mm thick Rad?

Edit: Balls! Quiet fans is what I mean of course.

Hi,

I'm in the process of spec'ing up my WC parts and wanted some advice regarding fans.

I will be using a pair of Alphacool NexXos Monsta 360 80mm thick rads in an external chassis. Likely I will only use PUSH on these rads to keep the noise down.

The array of available fans is bewlidering to say the least. I need to ensure I pick the right fan for the job, so one that has good static pressure to get through an 80mm rad while remaining at low-rpm to keep the noise down. I'm NOT getting a fan controller so want a fan that will do the job at 12v. However if the fan comes with a 7v reducer too then it'd be an option I'd considert, though I'm trying to keep things tidy. If the fans cables are braded nicely it will of course make things much neater.

I've been using Alpenfohen fans in my case and they are strong and quiet, however when put on a rad (I have an Antech Kuhler 620 currently) they are VERY noisy when running above 50%.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks for the reply Josh.

I had considered the Gentle Typhoons (the 1,450rpm one) but I read a post from someone who claimed they were noisy when paired with a thicker radiator. Same for the NF-F12s - my friend actually replaced all his NF-F12s on his 360x360x45 rad due to the noise - and he is FAR more tolerant of noise than me. It's a shame as the NF-F12s were one of my first choices to investigate.

I will certainly check out the Spectre ones you mention as haven't encountered those yet.

Cheers,

Hi Ruthless,

I'll check out the Enermax Cluster fans...thanks.

I'm using a CM 690 II Lite case, however the Rads, Pump and Res are all going to be mounted in an external Phobya rad chassis. I'll be using quick disconnect fittings linking the Case to the Rad chassis which should make working on it quite a bit easier. The PC won't ever really be moved and it sits under my desk so it should work quite well. Ideally I had wanted to do a neat internal build, but there were too many compromises due to my case & even the other new cases I looked at seemed to compromise things. Tom did link me to the external Rad chassis some time back and it's been in the back of my mind since.
