The division 2 set in Washington DC:

There's one thing I request from this game: that weapon mods do reality justice (no sniper scopes on LMGs etc., it's absurd). That and it not being a broken unbalanced mess throughout its lifetime ha ha). Truthfully, I think they'll put in all the same things (enemies etc.) as in 1. I don't know about this one.

I liked that trailer, but I'm personally not invested in Halo any more. Of course that's just me, because Bungie and Microsoft clearly believe others are still invested, as they are said to have thirty years of Halo planned out.

To me, why would I still be playing a game that was first released in 2001? I appreciate (and envy in many ways) that others still love the franchise, but I can't stay interested in one thing for that long. Maybe if they waited ten years and came out with something incredibly adventurous, or just downright awesome, I'd jump back in. But the characters are not exactly... deep. Even Gears Of War still has me interested because the characters were generally endearing. Master Chief is not much more than a grunting marine in a suit. I mean, he's an awesome grunting marine—you can do a lot with very little as Half-Life proves—but he's not exactly chock full of detail. Cortana was awesome and some of the Covenant were cool, but that's about it.

Loads of The Division 2 stuff:

The Division 2 has three major pieces of DLC in its first year and it's all free

The Division 2 will have eight-player raids

What I saw makes me feel they took where destiny was flawed/failed and made it right.

I cannot wait for this. Already back to loving the first one.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey release date leaked (5 October 2018)

In the latest Assassin's Creed leak, a broken embargo has given us an Assassin's Creed Odyssey release date. You will be able to start your Ancient Greek adventure on October 5th, 2018.

A leaked dev diary - which appears to have intended to have gone live during Ubisoft's E3 2018 showcase - reveals a number of details. The footage seems to indicate that the game lets you choose between pre-made male and female protagonists who both have links to the first civilisation. We also get a glimpse at our new Ancient Greek map, which looks to be bigger than that of last year's Origins. The video also develops the game's ship combat mechanics such as ship boarding and ramming.

Because of my love - hate relationship with the first I am not hyped, but rather skeptical and watching closely. Signed up for the beta to give me some hints.

If you don't already have a set group of friends to play with for 2 sign me up though. Same goes for the first game which I now play on and off. I'm a decent player and have all the good kit.

I'll be looking for people for 2 anyway.

Loving the no more snow in 2, things seem to have matured a bit where they were messy in 1.

More sources pointing to Sony's PS5 using Navi and Zen -

https://www.forbes.com/sites/jasone...nys-playstation-5-vega-suffered/#24d9386024fd

Apparently Navi has been created specifically for the PS5, Interesting

Lots of claims buzzing around lately, though I disagree with a lot of the statements in some of these reports.

If I remember correctly, Jason states that he believed that Polaris was made with consoles in mind, citing the Xbox One X' announcement within a month of Polaris' launch as a reason, even though the Xbox One X release a year and a half later. Hardly a link.

Polaris offered a lot of improvements that most people forget, it was always more than clock speeds. In some cases, the RX 480 offered almost the same performance as the R9 Fury X, showing how AMD had clearly overcome some significant bottlenecks. Then there are things like Delta colour compression, though that work did start with Tonga.

Vega's troubles are from the compute side, with its biggest feature being rapid packed math, a compute-focused design tweak that I doubt that Sony would ask for, though the PS4 Pro does clearly show that Sony was able to look into the future of AMD's Radeon roadmap. While I doubt that Sony specifically wanted Rapid Packed Math, as this console generation is all about making game development easier, I have no doubt that Sony would take a performance-enhancing feature that was already on AMD's near-future roadmap.

As for Navi, the tweaks that Sony will ask for will come straight from the needs of developers, which can only be good news on the gaming side. Microsoft has also reportedly asked for certain design tweaks on their Xbox One X graphics chip, which could also have the potential to deliver better future Radeon chips.

As for Vega, I wouldn't say that its relative failure is due to Sony, resources were tight within RTG regardless and there are many places for the blame to lie. AMD's focus further down the roadmap doesn't necessarily mean that more resources could have saved Vega.

As for co-operation with Sony, Radeon would be stupid to not listen to what they have to say given their expertise. Sony has tonnes of first-party developers to ask when it comes to the limits of their current console technology, which means that they can tell AMD exactly what they need to improve to make their graphics tech more powerful.

If Navi is made with/for Sony, then the GPU is MADE FOR GAMING, which can only be good news for us. Not trying to build hype for Navi, but a focus on gaming can only be good for us gamers.

I read that article to and doubted most of it. Sure Sony looked into the future of AMD uarch designs however I doubt AMD is creating brand new uarch's to sell to Sony alone. Makes no sense from a financial standpoint. It would be a useless uarch as the Cell Processor was for PS3. Super expensive and cause more development work for which is the last thing devs and games want.

My thoughts are that AMD is using Sony to see what they should be working on for future architectures, after all, the console chips are "Semi-Custom" not "fully-custom".

Having Navi developed solely on the shoulders of Sony seems like a terrible idea, though Sony having an influence on the design doesn't sound like a bad thing, given how their first party developers are some of the best in the business and should, in theory, know exactly what they want from future graphics chips (what limiting factors they want worked on etc). There is no reason why these enhancements shouldn't apply to future PC parts.

AMD putting less focus on Vega and more engineering weight further down the roadmap doesn't sound like an unbelievable idea, or that Sony are influencing architectural changes. TBH, I think too much weight is being pushed on Sony here.

Yep the article makes it seem like Sony is all but literally fabricating the architecture.

AMD has technology they are working on. Early in the process. Sony basically just came along and said let's what you got so far. Sony just relays the information they have and AMD said ya know we can do that and maybe this etc.

But for them to say Sony basically is doing all of it is just naive.
