Quick News

I have to ask myself how many reviewers out there now are going to give the AMD products more favourable reviews for fear of not being allowed to review future products, using samples sent to them by AMD and instead either having to purchase the product or wait for other manufacturers such as, ASUS, Gigabyte or MSI to send them a sample.

They did it because of this video I'm sure:
https://vimeo.com/130535984
Which is a shame, as they were normally pretty unbiast, they just screwed up once and AMD acted like a brat.

They're not like Tom's Hardware/legit reviews who're pretty awful when it comes to anything AMD. Funny how FCAT suddenly doesn't matter to them when the 9xx had worse frame times.

Boo AMD, atleast they're not doing it with everyone negative. They've left out people who've been harsh but fair for the most par.

Wow, this guy knows how to dig a hole, he is not talking much about the product at the start, not very concise.

From a bit more digging about their site it seems to be that video and a few articles by one of their writers that would bother AMD. As stated before, certain other sites are much, much worse though.

Just watched that whole video and if that is what has caused it, then it's childish because there is not much in that video that I could really argue with based of my own opinions, but I would have put it across better than that.

I mean saying a card won't compete against another card without actually seeing it and being able to test it, is just asking for trouble especially when it's doing reviews on products that pay your bills, you have to be stupid to do what that guy did in my opinion.

Personally I thought the Fury cards wouldn't compete with the Titan or 980Ti but after seeing some of the information, come out I honestly believe it will but I will wait for reviews from the likes of Tom and Bit-Tech before saying "well done" or "bad luck".

It's one of the reasons I won't try and do reviews because of my own experiences with hardware, and software from certain companies and not being able to give a unbiased opinion on it, like Asus I won't use Asus boards anymore because from my experience they always fail after 12 months with the same faults, I have 1 Asus board out of the last 8 that I have bought that has not failed after 12 months, so I don't recommend them to anyone and because of that I would never attempt to review a Asus motherboard, MSI on the other hand I have had no real issues with and I like them but again that would stop me from reviewing them because of my own experience.

If I could do reviews I would as I am now a carer for my mother I have all the time in a day to be able to record videos and write articles, etc but because I know myself so well I won't even attempt it.

Either way this has left a sour taste in my mouth when it comes to AMD as it has it would seem with many other people.

All points irrelevant because pricing unknown. R9-390X may cost £4.50 in which case best GPU in the world. I'm fed up of all the pre-hype digs. The guy was out of line, if AMD are doing what they are doing for the right reasons then i'm 100% with them, their older cards were still competitive so why drop them.

EDIT: Well I take that back now pricing is known. 390X's are ~£350 with comparable performance to a 980 which is ~£420 whats the problem. Seems great to me.

The 8GB 390X is ~£350 atm and it benches slightly higher than the 970 and dependent on game/situation is on par with a 980 according to Tom's review..

Yep seems like a great play to me. Awaiting 8GB Lightning.

AMD have done a great job with the 300 series, while new silicon would have been nice it is still very competitive with Nvidia.

having double the vram for a lower price and similar performance is great.

Same here! Hopefully they do Lightning on Fury X too.. would be amazing:)

They improved performance slightly too by upping clock speeds and getting faster memory chips that are running a full Gbps faster(250mhz) which before would have meant you OC'd the crap out of the memory. They did this while keeping power consumption pretty much equal as I'm sure they have newer BIOS's and other pcb stuff to help with that. It's really just even more value for essentially the same price as before with an additional 4GB of Vram.

Sorry to sound pedantic, but isn't 1 Gbps 125 Mhz?

Windows 10 Insiders will get the final release for free, just as W7 and W8.1 users.
Gabe Aul confirmed this here

"As long as you are running an Insider Preview build and connected with the MSA you used to register, you will receive the Windows 10 final release build. Once you have successfully installed this build, you will also be able to clean install on that PC from final media if you want to start over fresh."

With GDDR5 250mhz would be multiplied by 4 to equal the 1000 mhz "effective" speed or 1gbps.pretty much every 1000mhz=1Gbps:)
That's why Nvidia cards are advertised as 7000mhz GDDR5 but really it's just 1750mhz. They just use the higher number for marketing purposes. On some AMD 390x's spec sheets, think it was Asus's DCU2, it actually says 6000MHz (1500MHz GDDR5).

With HBM, there's not a lot of info on it but I'm going to assume the speed you see is the speed it's running at until otherwise more info is released:)

While there was some confusion over Microsoft giving away Windows 10 to pirates, the software giant is now being clear about its free upgrade plans for Windows 10. We already know that Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users will get Windows 10 as a free upgrade (providing you install within a year of July 29th), but Microsoft is introducing a new way for anyone to get Windows 10 free of charge. If you install the latest Windows 10 preview (build 10130) on a machine and use a Microsoft Account that's registered for the Windows Insider program then you'll get the final version of Windows 10 free. Windows 10 will stay genuine, so you can clean install the preview right now and simply upgrade to the final bits for no charge.

Microsoft's Gabe Aul confirmed this method on Twitter yesterday as part of a new blog post detailing some new changes to the way the company tests Windows 10. "As long as you are running an Insider Preview build and connected with the MSA (Microsoft Account) you used to register, you will receive the Windows 10 final release build and remain activated," says Aul.

Microsoft will soon require testers to use a Microsoft Account to receive updated builds, and even when Windows 10 is finalized testers can opt-in and keep receiving future test versions in the coming months. So if you're running Windows XP or Windows Vista and you're looking to get a free copy of Windows 10, simply install the preview now and you'll get the final copy free once it's ready on July 29th
