While there was some confusion over Microsoft giving away Windows 10 to pirates, the software giant is now being clear about its free upgrade plans for Windows 10. We already know that Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users will get Windows 10 as a free upgrade (providing you install within a year of July 29th), but Microsoft is introducing a new way for anyone to get Windows 10 free of charge. If you install the latest Windows 10 preview (build 10130) on a machine and use a Microsoft Account that's registered for the Windows Insider program then you'll get the final version of Windows 10 free. Windows 10 will stay genuine, so you can clean install the preview right now and simply upgrade to the final bits for no charge.

Microsoft's Gabe Aul confirmed this method on Twitter yesterday as part of a new blog post detailing some new changes to the way the company tests Windows 10. "As long as you are running an Insider Preview build and connected with the MSA (Microsoft Account) you used to register, you will receive the Windows 10 final release build and remain activated," says Aul.

Microsoft will soon require testers to use a Microsoft Account to receive updated builds, and even when Windows 10 is finalized testers can opt-in and keep receiving future test versions in the coming months. So if you're running Windows XP or Windows Vista and you're looking to get a free copy of Windows 10, simply install the preview now and you'll get the final copy free once it's ready on July 29th

I was going to also post this in this thread but you beat me to it! MS is really trying to get as many people onto W10 as possible and by doing this really helps kick the pirating business down as it's just easier to get it free. Hopefully MS can continue to be this open to consumers.

Cool, thanks for the info :)

No problem:)

For anyone running AMD, they have released a new driver version on 6/21/15. 15.6 beta drivers. It addresses Arkham Night and performance/stability improvements. Interestingly I nocited it doesn't have the R9 300 series listed as compatible.. think that's an error though

I'mma just leave this here. Good job Amazon France

Don't wanna jinx AMD at this stage with the "I told you so" speech. As I did with the Gigabyte Waterforce and from my own personal experiences, Cooler Master don't do well in the AIO arena. So when I stumbled on this and after I said in the recent review of the Fury it seems it's happening. The first report of pump noise and coil whine from a Fury X..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xR3TZxu9vJI

It's said the coil whine is coming from the all-in-one pump bundled with Fury X cards. These are built by Cooler Master and contain a Nidec fan. It's a little weird that some users are reporting the phenomenon during idle scenarios, and it could mean that lower quality components are at play.
The user who sent in the above video claims the issue is with a retail card, not a pre-production model (review sample), though it's not clear if the other complaints are also representative of finalized hardware. Either way, AMD's Antal Tungler confirmed the issue to WCCFTech saying that the problem is present in early production units, but that a fix has been applied by Cooler Master. Future Fury X cards shouldn't suffer from noise issues.

I been hearing about that too, such a shame for it to be slightly ruined for AMD when it's CM's fault. At least they acknowledged it and applied a quick fix.

We'll see, I have no faith in CM AIO coolers, just hope this doesn't damage AMD in anyway. Though aftermarket cards will no doubt be a winner.

Fury X won't get AIB cards, Fury Pro will however.
We'll see how this plays out :D I could see AMD making a U turn on that decision pretty quick if things go south.

I cringed like crazy when Tom removed the side panel on the review sample (naughty boy)

I hope its just a one off amd need a win they have been behind for some time now

This has been resolved.

For those buying a fury X and are unsure. Unscrew the front plate. If you get the cooler with the green coolermaster logo, its the old faulty one. If you get the chrome logo its the new one with the pump issue fixed.

unscrewing the front plate does not ruin your warrantee

Square Enix pulls sales of Final Fantasy 14 for mac- blames OpenGL

The various technical issues that have plagued the Mac version of Final Fantasy XIV have caused publisher Square Enix to pull the game from sale and offer refunds.

In a post over on the Square Enix forums, Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida apologised for the game's poor performance on Mac, citing "insufficient communication of system requirements," and a "premature release," with the game going on sale before all its bugs were fixed.

"While the development and operations teams, as well as our entire company, were involved in this mistake, it was I who ultimately made the decision to release the Mac version under these circumstances and therefore bear sole responsibility, and I sincerely apologise to you all," wrote Yoshida.

"Although our development and QA teams tested the client on Mac hardware, because of our last minute efforts to improve performance and the possibility that system requirements might change," continued Yoshida. "However, in the chaos leading up to the multi-platform launch of our expansion, we released incorrect requirements, which were not updated prior to the Mac version’s official release...Had we provided accurate information beforehand, I know many of you would not have purchased the Mac version."

As for exactly why the Mac version has suffered from development problems, Yoshida goes on to explain in the post that FFXIV uses middleware developed by TransGaming to convert DirectX API calls into OpenGL calls that work on Mac systems. This conversion, coupled with OpenGL's comparatively poor performance compared to DirectX, is what Yoshida says caused so many problems.
tldr: we used a fork of wine and it causes a huge performance issue. big suprise.
