Potential Fallout 3 remaster incoming -

It is 100% coming. Just that no one knows when.

Basically someone was going to make Fallout 3 modded into the FO4 engine. (IIRC it was going to be called Alpha and Omega) They got a cease and desist from Bethesda. Which is really really unusual for Bethesda to do because they love modders. Well any way, a couple of months later a paper leaked that showed Bethesda were actually doing it themselves.

That said their schedule is years off. I did hear a mumbling they may release it this June, but any time this year would be incredible.

To me, at least, it is the best of the series by far. I liked New Vegas but it just didn't have the soul of FO3. FO4 was very playable and I did get enjoyment out of it, but I hated the graphics. It all looked a bit fat and bloated.

So yeah, a UE5 remaster of Fallout 3 for me would be the best thing to happen game wise for me in over a decade.

According to GN HL3, or HLX as it is known is being play tested and is complete.

Wow. Man if that *and* FO3 Remastered come out this year my life is gone in a *poof* lmao

I'll believe it when I see it, FO3 Remaster is pretty much guaranteed, HL3 is just people trolling.

I'm not sure of that tbh. Ever since the valve thing last year where Gabe admitted he was bummed about it there have been solid rumours from people who would know.

I dunno we will see I guess. I mean HL Alyx came from nowhere.

HL3 as far as i'm aware has been in testing for around 6 months so extremely possible that it's very near ready but this is valve and it's a 3rd game something they haven't done before they simply will not release unless absolutely certain that they are 100% happy with any game but with steam deck 2 and the high possibility of a new VR meta like headset likely as a launch game but in what exact form i couldn't say but even alyx 2 has been on the cards and while some might not agree alyx 1 is by far and away the very best vr game there is and nothing even comes close to it in terms of aaa quality, you have to give credit that valve has yet to release what you'd call a bad or even average game compared to any developer.

Gamers Nexus is going scorched earth on Nvidia, Will be interesting to see how this turns out considering Steve's past work on exposing shady tactics of companies.

Microsoft released a Windows 11 update today, Windows 11 24H2 KB5060829, That hopefully helps with display issues, Display resets etc....

Mixed with Nvidia's drivers being bonkers but slowly being fixed, Hopefully this helps.

  • Improved: Made underlying changes to enhance display related user experiences, including reducing screen flashing during certain display configuration transitions and eliminating unnecessary display resets that occurred in some cases.
  • Fixed: Some displays might be unexpectedly green.
  • Fixed: When you press ALT + Tab to switch out of a full screen game, other windows might stop responding.
  • Fixed: An underlying issue might lead to unexpected changes to window size and position after sleep and resume on some devices.
  • Fixed: Explorer.exe might stop working unexpectedly when a window is dragged, if window snapping is enabled.

DLSS Swapper 1.2 has just been released with some nice changes, Mainly letting you choose the DLSS Preset i.e Preset K for improved image quality -

What's Changed

DLSS presets

DLSS presets are now available! (just in time for presets A-E to be deprecated and for everyone to use K ). This can be found both in the game picker page as well as a global override in settings page. If the game does not have a driver profile this will not work (for now).

Setting a preset per game will be used in place of the global override preset.

We can't detect presets in a DLL so the option will always show A-K + use latest. If in doubt use the on-screen indicator to confirm what is being used.

Special thanks to benjy3gg who got the base of this work started and without their work it would not be where it is today.

Translations

DLSS Swapper is now available in multiple languages!

  • English (Australia)
  • English (United Kingdom)
  • English (United States)
  • Polish
  • Português BR
  • Russian
  • Turkish
  • Simplified Chinese
  • Traditional Chinese (Taiwan)

If your language is not supported but you would like it to be see the translation guide on how you can create translations (no developer experience required).

Special thanks to Kur3k who did majority of the legwork of the underlying translation system.

Improved DLL display and handling

Throughout the app DLL versions should display nicer. Now when a game updates and replaces a DLL we will now detect this and remove the backup used to restore the DLL. The reason behind this is if a game has DLSS v3.5, and you swap to v3.6, and then the game updates to v3.7 DLSS Swapper will display v3.7 as current but gives you the option to restore to v3.6. This is not how things should work.

On a games detail page you can look at DLL history to see what was discoverd, changed, restored, updated, etc.

Additionally we now load the internal version of FSR DLLs meaning you won't have to know what v1.0.1234 means and instead you will see v3.1.4. On top of this FSR ordering is based on this internal name, not the DLL product version. This means FSR 3.1.2 is now back in the list where it belongs.

I'm not sure if this was posted a few weeks back but aside from the new Nvidia Preview driver enabling 4000 series owners to use Smooth Motion, Smooth Motion was also updated a few weeks ago to work under Vulkan and not just DX11/DX12.

Nice to see that feature rolled out. Would love to see some older versions of DX and OpenGL supported. After all, older are the ones that more typically have things like framerate caps.
