Quick News

shut up and buy a water bottle lol

yea it's drama, but at least it's backed up.

don't get me wrong I watch loads of videos, but only few I go to for the facts.

my comment on the sound room thing, was that it was overkill and no normal user cares unless they own a studio.

Wccftech interview the modder Pascal Gilcher who created the RTGI ReShade mod about his new path tracing mod for older DX9 games -

Hairy PC Jesus accuses Linus of poor ethics after taking $100,000 from his viewers for a fan testing machine that has never seen use.

/drama.

Honestly never been keen on him even going back to when it was NCIX, He just gives me the creeps and his employees all look and sound like they're on a day trip from the local psych ward.

System reqs for the new Armored Core, The RT requirements are quite tame.

PCMR posted this on Facebook, Apparently this was seen inside the test server for Ubisofts Rainbow Six Siege on the publicly viewable update tab, May not be cancelled after all.

Linus responds on his forum. Doesn’t apologise, calls GN unprofessional and then quadruples down. Forum members don’t like said response, call him out and he takes his forum and “screw you guys, I’m going home”.

Waiting to see how many piggies get around the financial trough to cash in from this.

It’s the MacDonalds of reviews. Junk views. Simply done to cash in and make money.

LTT labs is just a weeing contest with GN over who can make the longest and most boring reviews when all that matters with say, a cooler or fan is how well it performs. Not X-rays of the mounting pressure and god knows what else. So basically this is a war of underkill vs overkill.

I took a brief glimpse at that forum thread, lol what a mess no one got time for that amount of feedback or even able to entertain and read it all.
No wonder linus said screw this i have beat saber to be playing, regardless of the issues they will need to do better otherwise oh how the mighty have fallen.
tbh not really linus's fault it was an employee that started this mess running, but there seems GN is always ready to take a pop, but have to admit does a fairly decent job of backing up his points so hard for linus not to at least take a better look at GN's points and ignore the massive thread on the subject.

The key one on twitter doing the rounds is that waterblock i.e not the right card installed incorrectly, never sent back the prototype and then auctioned it off, gotta say that is a little scummy myself.

The whole labs part is pure overkill all around, stick it in a PC does it work is it noisy and how much lower temps end of subject it's not rocket science if it was none of them would have a role in reviews.

oh and the 4090ti I doubt it as just cause a few are likely with devs etc really doesn't mean they will release it just my short thought on that.

Regarding the Linus GN stuff. Not gonna touch that with a 10 ft barge pole.

Lots of drama etc etc. There is clearly a grudge between the two groups and while there is clearly something wrong with how Linus Media Group are doing their tech content, the Gamers Nexus video was a hit piece that is designed to discredit their competition.

It is clear that they did not talk to LMG before that video came out, which makes it clear that they want to maximise the damage done. I am also seeing HW unboxed jump on the bandwaggon. TBH, I watch none of these folks unless something especially interesting comes up.

most of the tech press is showing off at times, look at my new studio and yet still put out the same stuff, it's all appearances to a point, but i don't have beef with any of them tbh and when it comes to linus they make some fun videos at times but outside of that everyone gets viewpoints from different places.

Just seems in my view silly that linus put the video out with the comment and then maybe the drama would have been avoided, idk nbd really.

Yeah it didn't go unnoticed on me that "LMG labs" was a complete hit back to Steve buying a fan testing machine etc.

However, I think the industry in general (not OC3D of course) has needed a major shakeup for many years now. It has just lost touch with reality completely and needs bringing down to earth.

BTW as for maximising damage? good !. Given they basically buried a small startup company overnight. Karma, that is.

I think the whole situation is fine, I think Steve did the right thing.

Linus only has himself to blame, and the stupidity of an employee for opening his mouth about something which opened the door to all of this, and then that whole "Woe is me, I am victim of a smaller channel bullying me" reply, get a grip.

If they were not rushing to release videos to try and kill off smaller channels, kill small companies and maximise the potential "Sponsor" money from companies, then the videos could be full of factual and accurate information instead of what anyone can see is, honestly information that cannot be trusted.

I personally still watch his videos, but not for reliable information, if I want that I go to GN, Jay, Paul, TTL and a few others but never LTT because you cannot trust him.

You know this LMG vs GN is all a scam right to generate click/$$ .

Don't be taken in by it all, its manipulation of the audience.

My theory is that LMG & GN have undisclosed investment in https://billetlabs.com/ and they have collaborated secretly to create a fake confrontation between Steve & Linus knowing full well that this will bring in the clicks for future videos and the exposure for Billet Labs.

GN demonetized there first video for tactical cover, but you can bet follow up videos are monetized.

At a time when the tech YouTube scene is struggling for clicks as nothing innovative is coming to the market and big manufacturers are slowing down production due to incoming global recession, this pantomime between GN & LMG is going to keep the clicks coming in for at least the next couple of months.

LMG / GN / BilletLabs are all winners in this !

Considering LTT's employees called Gamers Nexus and Hardware Unboxed i.e their competition, Unprofessional in how they test in a public video I'd say this is an entirely self made issue.

Generally if I want to critique someone I don't run it by them first - "Hey do you mind if I criticize you ?".

It's not about asking if you can or if they mind you criticising them, it's about trying to hear both sides of the story and giving everyone a voice. LTT had no opportunity to respond to any accusations. That's journalism. GN only wants one side of the story to be told, it's a premeditated strike against LTT to gain market share.

I'm not saying that GN are wrong to expose the flaws with LTT, I'm just saying that they went about it in a way to maximise damage and to maximise personal gain.

If I think of what is likely the best piece of PC tech journalism in recent years, which I think is Kyle Bennett's coverage of the Nvidia GeForce Partner Program fiasco, he gave Nvidia a chance to go on record.

It worked. No one has been overly nasty on the LTT forum. But everything they have called for has been addressed.

FTLN - you really need to go and read that thread. Linus has lost a whole lot over this. Including a huge portion of Floatplane subs, and god knows what else. If you think this was for hits and money, especially on LTT's part? you couldn't be more wrong.

They ARE going to slow down, and they ARE going to make (or at least they are saying they are going to make) better videos and content.

Too many people doing too many things, they would be better to split the whole work force into small teams that focus on one video before releasing in each team.

Still i don't think we have heard the last of this drama, as it's one thing saying all this from different people, but only time will tell.

I'll still watch their content, but as always look elsewhere for imho hard facts.

Adam Savages Tested has made a replica of the player ship in Starfield, Really good watch -

Linus could do with being brought down a peg or 2 behaviorally speaking, His ego his out of control and he's always had this "I'm a victim" mentality any time someone criticizes him not to mention the more recent what seems like sexual assault and workplace bullying allegations against his company from a former female employee, Not looking good...

He's the classic case of "geek from school gets money and power" which has given him a mindset of being untouchable, Problem with people like that is they then act like they are untouchable which is a recipe for disaster that seems to be coming home to roost as of late, Either way I unsubbed 3+ years ago as he makes my skin crawl.

Having said all that it's got nothing to do with any of us in here, I personally won't be speaking about it again.

Black Myth: Wukong - 4K DLSS 3 Boss Battle Reveal

One of the comments was interesting -

There was a in-person demo event yesterday in Hangzhou where they had this game running 60fps 1080p low settings on a 1660, and 60fps 4K max settings on a 4070.

There's no FPS counter showing any info with before/after DLSS3 being enabled but if the above info is correct this should be nicely optimized.
