Query regarding XMP and SA Voltage.

Hi guys,

Is it always best to adjust the memory settings manually rather than use XMP? If so what are the settings I should be changing? I know the memory runs at 16-18-18-36 so I can adjust those settings accordingly.

I've also been told to up the System Agent voltage to help with stability.

On the other hand if I do use XMP the SA voltage is automatically adjusted to 1.35v which I assume is too high?

XMP is great if it is stable and at the speed and timings you are happy with. 99.99% of the time I will use XMP as it offers a quick and simple setting to get the memory running at its rated speed and timings.

Obviously if you are looking to take the memory to its limits etc, you will need to do it all manually.

SA voltage can be useful to stabilise memory timings and overclocks. Are you having stability issues?

Haven't really tested yet, my initial reaction was that it seemed too high at 1.35v as on my Z97 system the XMP didn't actually alter the SA voltage, I had to manually up it myself for stability.
