well i just bought a q9400 for my lenovo cuz my e7400 isnt really working out for gta 4. uh i was wondering if its possible to overclock? im willing to put a custom cooler if its necessary and if the overclock is possible. its a lenovo k230 ideacntr

I am go ahead and say no, since most of those after market computers do not have such capability. Remember, over clocking is subject to your motherboard, not CPU and most if not all pc manufacturers use cheap or proprietary boards. The only way to really be sure is to enter your BIOS and see if you can change the core clock.

oh. i'll go check right now. i think i'll get a MSI P7N SLI Platinum cuz i saw one at one of the local shops for 35$ and i think its a steal.its used but they have a 30 day return policy.

I am not sure if that board will fit on your Lenovo case. Consider also getting something like a cooler Master centurion, just something that will fit an ATX mother board. They are ultra cheap cases.

i know :/ i was looking for some cheap case on craigslist but couldnt find any. imma look at the frys store cuz their website inventory is different than the online inventory. oh and the SilenX Effizio EFZ-120HA4 is like 38$ at frys so i tihnk im getting that.

I got GTA4 EFLC and the performance was pretty bad without some tweaks to files in the GTA4 directory

Seems like GTA4 is just poorly optimized for the PC

really bad console port.

I think it's pretty bad even with a quad core

I got it running at stable FPS on my system after some tweaks and patching of files.

Only way I can think of overclocking the lenovo (ibm) desktop would be using software so prob not worth it

If I've read the lenovo pages correctly, that only has an Nvidia 9300 in it. That may be more of an issue than processor speed.

Can u please please please tell me what tweaks u did? Or link to it? I mean my e7400 runs around 28-30 fps then there would be like random drops to 18-20 fps.
