Q6600 @ 3,75 not anymore !?!

hello everyone,

i used to be able to push the q6600 G0 to 3,75 on air

with about 1,5 volts

the board i was using asus striker 2 formula... the board then just decided to not work anymore,

so i had to get a replacement. i didnt have lots a money at that time so i got the asus p5n72-t premium

and on that board it just wont work!!!!!

i tryed to push the voltage a bit higher but no luck...

is it just the board or could it be something else?

CPU degradation would be the most probable cause. Don't know how many volts the older processors could handle, but 1.5v does seem a tad high.

I believe 1.55 was the max you could take a Q6600 before it started to damage the transistors. Possibly, the motherboard is the issue? Or simply age?

Transistor degradation is still more than possible.

yeah 1,5v is a bit high but the temps where alright so i didnt think it was a problem. i tryed 1,45v was unstable on the striker 2

the p5n72-t wont have it eitherway!

the q6600´s vid is 1,325

1.65v was the max for Q6600, your board may not be as good for overclocking as the formula was.

Try raising the FSB a bit that's how OC'd my old Q6600 but I never took it past 3.3ghz I set the FSB to 333 and voltage was 1.26v if I remember correctly, it's been a while.

well it lasted almoust 4 years so it has done more than i asked for!

i´ll try to tweak around a bit more. if it doesnt work thats what it its then.

at the moment its on 3.1 ghz and its undervolted and runs nicely

need a new one anyway!

will try gonna post later on how far it went!

at the moment its running at 344x9 with 1,248v(cpu-z)

yeah i know its an old gal, still runs smooth tho!

the board has got massiv fsb holes... from 1380 - 1500 and 1600 - 1700

i managed to get it to 3,54ghz (394x9=1575fsb) on 1,36v ...... and i can feel the difference

hope i can tweak it a bit more!!!!
