PWM to 3/2 pin

Just a quickie, I've just changed cases from a Phantom 630, to a CM S Trooper. The Phantom was great for fans as it had a 10 fan connector board, for 2/3 or 4 pin fans. But nothing like that in the Trooper, it has a fan controller, for 2 or 3 pins. But no connection for 4 pin fans.

The problem I have is my fans are all PWM, Akasa vipers, and my fan controller is 3 or 2 pin, can I buy some 2 or 3 pin blocks and just leave the appropriate cables out and crimp the ones needed ? If so what cables have to be connected is it the black and yellow for 2 pin and black, yellow, and green for the 3 pin.

Or my other option is to re use the 10 fan board from the Phantom, but then I have no control over speeds, which I would like the option to be able to do. cheers guys.

If you have some old fans you dont use, you could eventually use the pin blocks on those and try to fit it on the 4pin fans, ordering it online would cost as much as buying a new fan just in shipping, so If I were you I would just stop thinking about that 4 pin fan and get a new 3 pin fan or just leave it without any.

Ive got 11 fans mate, 6 on a 360 rad, 4 on a 240 rad and a rear . So Buying new or stop thinking about them, isn't an option as they are new. They were bought with the Phantom in mind, but a not so helpful brother, made a mess of the Phantom, so had to swap it for a Trooper.

I've got the blocks, off some old fans, I'm just unsure what colour cables need to be used. I'm pretty sure it's the black and yellow.

If you dont want to change all the connectors on your fans, you can mod your fan controller to be able to connect 4pin fans.

How would I go about that mate ? The cable colours are, black, yellow, green, blue. That's looking from the flat side of the block. The fan controller has 2 pin connectors but they have fatter pins. They're a bit like the corsair led fan pans.

The 2 pin connectors are for fan leds mate. I think you can take the side out of the port for the fan to be able to fit 4 pin fans. Just make sure you cut the right one out so that the extra pin that is used for pwm is the one that isn't connected.

+1 to that!

That is what i was refering to.

That's what I was thinking to, well I tried all of the fans and it works great. One of the Vipers, is making a odd noise like a hum, but only when connected to the controller. Connect it normal and it is fine. Cheers guys.
