I think so, yes.
Like i said in the news section if it would have performed 50-60% better then the 580 then it would be a little more acceptable but only a 25% increase and maybe 30% with better drivers is... well nothing to really brag about, toke them a full year to get 30% better then the 580...

But it's still better than a 580 and by the time the supposed 780 is out the AMD 8000 series will be around the corner and there is still the 7990 to come. Nothing to brag about? please, your fanboisim is showing
And no i'm not a fanboy I would be saying the same thing if it was the other way around and it was Nvidia instead of AMD.

30% of $500.00 is $150.00 yet the Radeon HD 7970 is only $50.00 more than the GTX 580. So not only does the HD 7970 stomp the crap out of the GTX 580 but it is a way better value to boot.

Also, not to mention the 3GB of RAM, the much higher resolution support, support for up to six displays with individual audio streaming for each display. Newer smaller architecture, lower temps, lower TDP and a lot of other technological and software improvements and media functions.
GPUs aren't all about FPS you know.

Ya, it's like I said, I hope Nvidia can bring something good to the table. Unfortunately we are going to have to wait until late May or early June to find out. Nvidia has already slipped the April ship date for Kepler.

looking at these i cant see nv regreting it, they drop their prices to give better value and flush the channels now and thru the new year and come easter they will be set to ship the new tech. same thing will happen next year when nv launch and ati get ready for their next offerings.

In my life ive owned 3 macs 2 with ati and 1 with nvidia.
and my pc gaming laptop has a 460m, so for now im at 50/50 im just looking for best bang for buck
and yes for now AMD wins hands down but to keep it for 2012 that will be the challenge AMD has.

The thread was asking whether or not the slogan was over the top. The 7970 is obviously the better card, but we are not talking about that here.

Nope but it's what it turned into.
Who pays attention to marketing anyway Nvidia and ATI have been doing it to each other for years it's nothing new and they are not the only companies that do it.

I think its a bit far as AMD are hardly in a position to start swinging hubris around. The fact the 7000 series AMD cards are better than the 500 series Nvidia cards is not astonishing, its not really worth bragging about it either; It's the bare minimum expected. Any less than beating the previous iterations tech is considered a flop (*cough*Bulldozer*cough*).
They can start talking about "Humiliating" the competition when they actually exceed expectations, not just delivering what is expected of them given a years extra R&D. Somehow I doubt the 7000 series are going to humiliate their actual competitors, which is the 600 series...even if they are going to be late to the party.
