For a single 980 Ti the 760 is more than enough. For SLI you should be able to get away with the 760 as well. The AX series is 80 plus platinum so you can get away with pushing them a bit more than a cheaper PSU. 860 would be a safe bet but you're right its not really worth upgrading for 110w extra, so if you are going to upgrade then go for the 1200.

Alternately, you could look at the RM 1000i. You'd still have peace of mind because you're buying a Corsair PSU, and it tends to cost the same or less than an AX 860i. BUT because its a step or two down from the AX series its only 80 plus gold, instead of platinum.

So its really up to you how much headroom you want, but you'd be surprised with just how small a PSU you can tend to get away with. They're something that everyone almost universally goes way overboard with.

EDIT: you could also look at the HX 1000i, i think that's the one right below the AX series and its 80 plus platinum.

thanks for reply think just goin to get the AX1200i :D - we only have one life ha so let live it

AX1200i is actually getting on a bit now - and compared to newer HXi and RMi units actually a bit noisey too.

Id honestly have a rethink if I were you dude, you REALLY dont need 1200w Ive powered the same spec system with an RM450 in the past

Cable wise the 24 pin is different remember.

Id look at the HX1000i for SLI - you could push it on an 850 but the older AX and AXi's were not very quiet

The Newer HXi and RMi are insanely quiet (if the fan actually spins
