Some stuff from Gamespot to add:

Sony also laid out the technical specs of the device. The PlayStation 3 will feature the much-vaunted Cell processor, which will run at 3.2GHz, giving the whole system 2 teraflops of overall performance. It will sport 256MB XDR main RAM at 3.2GHz, and it will have 256MB of GDDR VRAM at 700MHz.

Sony also unveiled the PS3's graphics chip, the RSX "Reality Synthesizer," which is based on Nvidia technology. The GPU will be capable of 128bit pixel precision and 1080p resolution--some of the highest HD resolution around. The RSX also has 512MB of graphics render memory and is capable of 100 billion shader operations and 51 billion dot products per second. It also has more than 300 million transistors, larger than any processor commercially available today. It will be manufactured using the 90nm process, with eight layers of metal. The RSX is more powerful than two GeForce 6800 Ultra video cards, which would cost roughly $1,000 total if purchased today.

Cheers to gamespot for that pics and info!!

Xbox 360 looks like it has this shitter beat hands down in the specs catagory :)

Well I don't know about that.

I think that the Cell is an unknown quantity and that the GPU's may well be comparible (if nvidia vs Ati is anything to go by). I think you'll find it a hard battle and I personally can't wait to see what the games look like.

If only you could use a mouse and keyboard for FPS then I'd be deffo buying one of these beauties straight away!! ;)

Xbox360 is gonna straight up pwn it :D w00t!

Well that remains to be seen. With gaming consoles you can only judge what you see on scren and what I've seen of both consoles is highly impressive. I will reserve MY judgement until I've seen both with my own eyes.

The dual core proccy, 512mb of ram, and the ATi gpu w/ 48 pixel pipelines says enough.

Oh yeah and the watercooling :p

3 cores, are you sure about the watercooling and 48 pipelines?

What about the Cell's 7 cores?

The cell has a totally different architecture to normal procs so I don't think you can compare it really. Plus it has dedicated vid RAM.

The water-cooling :rollingla - its a Heatpipe solution not unlike the XP-90/120 range...they're just calling it watercooling.

If I was you I would just wait and see which one is better.... :p

No need to wait... The winner is clear! :p

the interesting thing is the memory card suport it has -SD/MMc Memory stick and CF must be the 1st sony product in recent years to support more than memory stick

^^ they have a screenie

the cell isnt entirley different it has a main processor which is a power pc and the SPE units are basically vertex craphics card units hooked to the PPC by a very quick bus (this also explains the massive floating point performance); apple have been rumored to be working on a way to offload large calcs to the dx 9 units on graphics cards but shortly b4 info on cell was released they didnt mention this ne more

The PS3 is set to use a single Cell CPU at its core, which will run at 3.2Ghz. The system will boast around 2.18 Teraflops of performance - almost twice the raw performance of Microsoft's Xbox 360, if the Teraflop statistics from both companies are to be believed. Sony even went so far as to display a bar chart of the relative floating point performance of the Xbox 360 and PS3 on the giant screen in the exhibition hall, in a rare acknowledgement of Microsoft as a competitor.

 I can't be bothered to argue....but when the PS3 is kicking arse and you have your xbox, then don't come running to me saying "why did i buy a xbox?", don't come crying to me
