Hi Overclock3D!

So here we are again, another start of a new Scratch Build project in the smaller category.

Let me introduce Project: Sasori - A Military m-ITX Build!

As some of you might know I started my first project in 2010 and that was called Silent Shadow, because it was my first project I decided to go the more "safe way" to build a bigger more standard ATX case, with project Silent Shadow I learned a lot of new things, ways to think and so on.

But this time around with that almost out of the way I decided to go with something new, I have always wanted to build a m-ITX system but never got around doing it, so with my new way of thinking and ideas I just had to do a m-ITX build!

So here we are a new Project Log for a small project.

My thoughts around the design is a tower much like Silverstones Fortress chassis, But fully liquid cooled by a 180 or 200mm radd in the bottom.

I had some cool Ideas for it but that got scratched after realizing that I could not get my hands on any long and reliable PCI-e Risers to be able to move the graphic card away from the motherboard and still have it show in a good way. So I had to go back to the drawing board and make it more of an classic design but in the same time make it my own!

Enough rambling on, here is a list of thing I have to get for this system:

Motherboard [X] - Done, I went with ASRocks Z77E-ITX board for it's clean looks.
Processor [] - Intel of course.
RAM [X] - Done for now, I have some Corsair Vengeance LP 8GB kit
Graphics [] -
PSU [X] - Done, I will be using SilverStones SFX 450W PSU because it Has all the connections I need and in a small form factor.
Harddrive/SSD [] - Have not decided if there will be room for a 3,5" drive or just SSD's, Time will tell!
Aluminum [] - This will be bought after all my drawings are done, I hope to be soon!
Fans [X] - Done, I have two options here depending on what type of radiator I will use, I got 2x180mm Silverstone AP Fans and 2x200mm Bitfenix spectrePro White LED fans.
Sleeving [] - I have not decided if I'm going with a paracord och MDPC-x Sleeving.
Radiator [] - Either 180mm och a 200mm
Tubing [X] - I have some over from my last project, might change it depends on if I go clear or Sleeved ;)
Pump [] - Yet to be decided
Reservoir [] -
Fittings [] -
CPU Block [] -
GPU Block [] -

The list might get longer as the build progresses but that's it for now!

Hope you survived that wall of text! But lets get this build on the road and make this happen!

Thanks to my Sponsor:

So first update!

So here we have some CAD Drawings to begin with so you get a feeling for my thoughts of how it will look, Keep in mind that there will be a lid on the top to hide all the cables and to make space to be able to mount the handle that I'm planing to have on top. I also have some cool ideas for the handle but more about that later :)

More to come, like some pictures of some hardware that Inet.se is sponsoring with! and more assembles as I get the design closer to finished!

Until next time!

Really hope this materialises, i love scratch builds :P good luck! and gratz on the sponsorship!

Yeah I hope so too, working my as off to get all the Drawings ready so I have all the measurements to be able to order all the aluminum and get them in to the machinery, Thanks!

Update, First care package from Inet.se

So here we are the first box from Inet.se

They were kind enough to fully sponsor me with the PSU that I'm gonna use for this project.

Thanks to Erik and Daniel over at Inet.se for sponsoring with:

Silverstones SFX 450W 80 Plus Bronze PSU

Yeah it's so small! But still powerful with all the connections that you need in a small system and it's 80+ Bronze certified. :)

So I have been thinking of some smaller details,

For the handle I'm thinking of using a 12,7mm round or 50 cal.

As of the theme is Military and for the color theme will be Desert camo.

What is your thoughts of that?

the .50 cal would be big enough, though i personally think the .50 is overrated.
how about a bullet belt of 5.56 like you see on a SAW or LSW?

Don't think that the belt would be comfortable enough to actually be used as a handle. But maybe that can be worked in to design in another way :)

+1
Have you had a look at 20mm cannon rounds for handles? i have a couple sitting in my room and they seem the perfect size :P
I found a picture, appropriately next to some ram :)

That looks awesome! To bad that it isn't placed in my room.

I have a .50 cal that isn't live anymore so that I can use. If you wouldn't like to Sponsor with a 20mm ;)

haha, I don't think I could cope with the postage, These things way a tonne :P I just checked and they are actually 30mm cannon rounds from a harrier jump jet :) the 20mm ones are the ones in the bandolier, the 30mm is the blue one lol :P

Haha ;)

Ah cool! I will see if I can get some different dummy rounds from my friends in the army, but it will probably not be easy :P so I think I will go with the 12.7mm ;)
