Project "RRR"

Wraith

Bettyswollocks
So after much shopping and looking at many many many many cases! I decided I will be buying a Parvum Systems full ATX but also decided that would be used to replace my current case :).

So for my 2014 build I thought rather than buy a pre built work of art case and mod it, I looked at the cases I have in that I'm going to retire to the tip and found 2 really ancient A-Data XBlades (I know:lol:) But bear with me.

First things first
1# Lose the facias, old windowed side panels, roofs and drive bays.
2# Cut and mesh areas no longer required.
3# Spray them White or Black.
4# Rivet them side by side.
5# hand craft tasteful new roof, facia and side panels (from the old back panels)

I have also figured seeing as these were destined for the tip I'd source most materials from our local dump hence the name of this project "RRR" (Reduce Reuse Recycle) So it'll be somewhat of a Green Project.

I will no doubt be calling upon you guys for advice along the way at certain points.

So as always give me your thoughts?

Please turn it into a gorgeous case, as it is, it's one ugly !!!!!!

Internally what is that case like? I bet it can struggle to fit new GPU's in it, it's just the plain silver inside... Your going to spray that right?

Is this going to be green in materials used AND it's power draw, or is it going to be green until you add multi-GPU's? :P

These cases were terrible but hey they were free so I'll only be using the shells for this project, looking forward to ripping these apart to see what I'm left with once they are riveted together.

ARRRR!! Pirates there be!
I look forward to raiding the tip and scrap yards to plunder some bounty.

ShaunB-91 I will be spraying it (undecided on colour yet) & they were pretty roomy cases to begin with there will be even more room for GPUs once I tear the drive bays out, don't forget once these 2 cases are bolted together side by side room won't be an issue. Still in the planning stages at the moment I have ideas in my head but they are sure to change as the build progresses. It will be "Green" with regard to the materials used to build the case I'll start on Monday with the strip down.

The only thing I'm sure of is that I want nothing but the motherboard, gpu and cooling in case #1 and everything else at the rear (case #2)

As for hardware I have not even started looking at the internals yet...

have fun with this, I did a build a few years ago called "Project Carboot". All parts were sourced from either car boots or old racks of ancient kit, given a firm beating with the modding stick and let lose with a new lease of life. I found it a very rewarding build and learned a lot about fabrication along the way.

Not got much done due to time wasting orders and waiting for parcels  But I have been busy designing and laying out the project I'm looking for great airflow in this case also the sparse empty look in the front section has me concerned, the fan locations are NOT 100% also I don't like the normal circular vents I'll probably go for something else later. Colour wise I'm sold on black exterior with a bright white interior.

I got these cases 4 years ago with crap PSUs for just £15!
My mate was lucky enough to get one of the rare Full Aluminum ones.
Now mine are simply empty shells awaiting refit for this build. :)

Any thoughts on using the PSU box to house a large rad and fans. Tubing could be stealthed through from the motherboard case

To be honest all I'm doing is building the case as an exercise I may not even use it, depends on the quality at the finish will see how things go I might just end up selling it or let someone else kit it out.

It will be done to a nice high standard no rush jobs here, I'm not really a custom loop fan as it's to much to maintain on a regular basis but if it gets enough interest I'll let it go to someone who'd be willing to build into it also I don't clock high enough to warrant a full loop.
