Project "Mammoth" Corsair 800D

Wow, impressive rig matey. Have to say though, after reading previous posts, I'd switch some of your fans round if you're having overheating probs on your RAM. Having all the fans facing outwards won't work, as SlowBarless said, because if they're all facing out there'll be no air to push out in the first place! You need air flow through the case, either front to back or bottom to top if there's enough clearance underneath. In my head I've always thought, with RAM, the front/back configuration is best as the airflow is perpendicular to the orientation of the RAM so will have the biggest surface area contact with the RAM chips, but that could just be the way my mind works and actually has no real benefits. Also, heat rises so making the best use of the top vents at the same time should help.

That is an exelent sugestion! But there is still 1problem, as u know the case hase 2 compartments, the lower part have a space for 1cooler to be put on the low front of the case, so practicaly it's pulling air from there. Another thing is that the fan that sould pull from the bottom and push to the second upper part of the case i have it removed because i have the pump's right on top of the vents.

Next the upper compartment is somewhat ventilated by the back fans on the external rad, i don't know how to make it have more air flow since the fan on the back if i mount it, it must be a kaze ultra just like the rad's fan and i hate to not be able to fit a dust filter. Right now i have just a magnetic dust filter were the back case fan shold of been.

Considering all of this, what do u sugest i do ?

This is what I would be doing (I know it's drastic but this is my opinion)

1. Move the pump so that you can fit the 140mm fan back in

2. Orientate the lower radiator fans so that they draw air in from the bottom of the case and blow air towards the top of the case

3. Orientate your power supply so that the fan faces down (if its not this way already)

4. Put the rear exhaust fan back in but have it blowing air into the case instead of out

5. Rethink your watercooling loop

With point 5 I mean this. The whole setup would be so much neater without that extra radiator on the back. You should be able to adequately cool your cpu and your gpu's with the single 360 rad in the roof and the extra 240 in the bottom. Get rid of the chipset coolers as they really are an unneccessary luxury (my honest opinion). Also be carefull with your zipties on your tubing as some look a little tight. Some of the tubes also look like they're about to kink, all of this is bad for water flow. Perhaps with some original thinking you could even fit 2 360 rads inside the case if you ditch the 240.

Also, why must the fans be kaze ultras?

Il try to change it this weekend if i have the time. But the mb have to be in the water loop, dont have the stock cooling and whit the voltages that i push it will not survive whit air cooling.

I'm not sure if i can fit a 360 in the bottom but whit a bit of modifications i might ad the the 240 and 360 there

). Just got a crazy ideea of insted puting the fan to push trough to the upper chamber to try and make a fan grill and mount the 240 there while the 360 remaining in the bottom instead of the 240 that i have right now. I might need to switch to low profile fans to make them fit bouth there.

Il try it this weekend and il let u all know the result.

I might need to order some tubes for this kind of mod and some extra pices.

Thx for the ideea and your help SlowBarless.

Let me know what u think of puting the 240 and 360 in the bottom.

Not a problem mate. As I said its only my opinion of what I would do. The most important thing is getting your airflow right. Keep in mind when your doing any mods that the fans also need room to breathe, so bunching a whole heap of radiators in the bottom might not be the best idea. However it's up to you with what changes you want to make I havnt had first hand experience with the 800D so take what I say as a grain of salt. But I honestly believe with some changes you can get your rig cooler and quiter.

Have fun!

I had the rad from my other built so didn't want to spend money on something that i have already. Il change the GPU soon so il wait till then to change the mod.
