Hey all, this is my first post.

Great forum and also love the OC3D and TTL youtube vids.

Let's start whit the specs:

I7 930 4.2ghz that sits under a EK supream HF

Gigabyte x58a-ud7 also whit EK waterblock's

Mushkins enhanced 2000mhz 9.10.9.24E

2x Ati/AMD HD5870 oc'd 1015core/1230mem

nVidia GTS 450 for physx

2x ssd ocz agility 3 120gb in raid 0, the only downside to this is that i have them on sata2 because it was giving way to much problems on the marvell controler and that for just a bit more speed.

3x160gb Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm : i know they are old but in raid0 they pull up to 200mb read & w

2x swiftech mcp655 pumps

There are 3 rads in the case 2x360 and one 240

The reservoir its XSPC dualbay that i had to mod because i finally decided to put everyting in one loop and not 3 like it was befor.

Fans: 7x Scythe ultra kaze 3000rpm and 3x Scythe gentle typhoon 6000rpm all controlled whit 2 scythe kaze master pro

Asus xonar U3 paird whit Pioneer HDJ2000

Very nice rig indeed, but that external rad is HUGE overkill and looks ugly, and the RAM cooler also looks ugly too

Hi all, the external rad it was for the GPU's and there are 2 extra fans on them to separate it a bit more from the case considering i have to plug in the monitors.

The ram cooler is needed since i have the ram at 2000mhz it put's out a lot of heat, even like this the CPU it's getting insanely HOT.

I rather have the ssd there and not behinde the mb tray since i have no more room in the hotswap for it.

Strange that your ram gets hot enough to need a big air cooler. Even overclocking my ram at stupid voltages it never really gets hot. A very very nice rig though m8. How loud are the fans at the rear blowing through the rad?

I guess it depends on the ambient temp also. Ahh well the fans

) , if i put them at full speed it gets ridiculous loud but since i have them on low/med all the time it's not much of a problem to me but if u like silence i don't recommend this fans.



Maybe now that u can se the voltages u understand the need of the ram cooler and the external rad.

If u got any idee how can i solve this please share the knowledge.

1.5v it's needed when the ram is at 2000mhz, if i keep the ram under 1600 1.3 it's stable. And u havent even seen the qpi voltage

) 1.78v if i'm not wrong.

I think you would be suprised with the noise difference if you remove one set of fans so that they arnt double stacked. The lower fan would have trouble moving air as its hugely turbulated by the top fan, this also creates a lot of noise. Much better off going push pull if you can. Awesome rig btw mate

Tnx m8 . Good info but the thing is i had it whit push pull, seperate loops, mixed loops "cpu+mb"... Nothing worked.

The best for temps is seperate loops, but to much of a mess as u can imagine.

All the fans are set to around 2000rpm whit the fan controler so it shold not increse sound by much.

Like i said before, rad on the back is a must if i whant the RAM at 2000mhz , and the extra 2 fans on the back rad is to separete it more from the case otherwise my hdmi cable will not fit since hd5870 has the conector on the right side if u look at the case from the back.

It a pain whit watercooling.

My next build il go all air.

If u can give me tips on what can i do to improve the temps il apreciate it.

I really can't imagine ram getting hot enough to facilitate the need for their own cooling. Even at 2000mhz. If you have one grab a small cheap infrared thermometer and actually measure the temps of each DIMM. If the temperatures are indeed quite high I would honestly be considering reversing the flow direction of the fans mounted to the lower radiator just to help push some more air into the top of the case. Just because it's watercooled doesn't mean airflow becomes unimportant. I think maybe if you rethought things like air flow and the orientation of the fans you could be getting even better temps with less noise/rpm from your fans.

Hi. I do have a chep temp probe but it's not doing it's job so i prefer to reduce the amount of cables in the rig as much as posible.

The ram if u touch it for more then a few seconds is starting to burn your hand, it's probably around 60*C whit the fan on so it gets quite hot.

The point of turning the fans of the ram the other way is a waste of time if it's about just to reduce a bit of noice , the kaze ultra 3k rpm and the gentle typhone 6k rpm is making more noise than 100x ram coolers combined.

If u read an older comment of mine, i said 1.78 qpi voltage and 1.4875v cpu to be more exactly, that alone heats the entire case , no point for me changing the direction of the ram cooler.

Do note that all fans are blow'ing air out of the case.

@Liarma : my 5870's are perfect for 1 x1080p monitor.

BlackRider, firstly, try to figure out why your ram is getting so hot, it shouldnt be getting hot enough to burn you.

Secondly, airflow is extremely important. I recommend changing the orientation of some of your case fans so that you have some blowing in and some blowing out. Having all the fans blowing out is a big no no, there will be almost zero airflow through the case. What will happen is the air pressure within the case will drop and your fans will stall, similar to a cavitating prop on a speed boat, the fans will be spinning but they wont be moving air.

If you orientate some of your fans so that they blow in, the whole cooling system will become more efficient. That includes the radiators and everything, even your ram will be cooler.

I hope this is making sense, i never mentioned anything about flipping the fans on your ram cooler.
