[Project Log] Solar Storm - My first build

True, however as said in the plan, i am going to eventually. Just building in contingency to upgrade when the money allows. It's £100-£200 i really have better things to spend on at the moment, however i would prefer to have one in there to 'fill' the case up :)
which gpu would you put in it?

For what you want to use the system?

Nothing special really, just my all round, every day machine. Mostly multitasking between browsing, playing music, running my freeview tuner and recording, a bit of video editing (and therefore rending), RC flight simulator and thats pretty much it apart from the odd bit of MS office for work. Will also be using it for remote support at work, but connecting to my work machine and doing everything on that machine, not this local one.

Then you won't have any problems without a external grafic card, for the rendering a cuda card could maybe be usefull.

So, a bit of light dremeling and metal work, and we have a door cut out!

It's a bit rough still around the short edge end need to sort the corner radiuses and the high spots and then spray, but am VERY pleased for my first time doing something like this!

Thanks, i agree :) The hard part that is going to take patience is getting the perspex routed properly around the border to fit perfectly. If there's gaps i'll have to start over with the perspex!

Some toys arrived today

Along with the not so aesthetically pleasant UV tubing, Blue dye, screws, bolts, tubing cutter, PFTE tape and silver coil. Done some moving around in the case etc so pictures to come

More pics! Managed to get my fans and rad installed and decided to do a bit of test tubing between rad and res as its a bit tight. I'm about to order some more compression fittings and 45 degree fittings to help this as i don't like how bent the tubing is!

So more updates. Firstly, i washed out the rad, here's quite a nice shot of it drying on top of the log burner

I then PTF'd the threads on the fittings and popped them in, looking quite nice!

Also, placed an order today of some braided cable extensions for the boards and a few more 45 degree fittings.
But the headline of today, look what arrived on my desk this morning....

I'm going to be changing that orange ring, but is very quiet and looking like an animal!

More toys arriving :) Some 3m VHB tape to mount the VHB a few more 45 degree adapters, and these beautiful individually braided mobo cables.

It's almost time to start building (I start on xmas day as the majority of bits i've brought for people to give me as gifts). Cannot wait!

So, the mobo, CPU and psu are now in and loop is made and filled. Just leak testing and getting rid of bubbles. Will mirror my current hard drive tomorrow to the SSD. Then it's game time :D pics to come!
