[Project Log] Invoke System

Hello everyone :hello:

In recent times I've finished a bachelor degree at university and am taking 15 months off. So I now have the chance to slack off and earn some money.

And build a sweet new rig at home.

This will be the fifth PC I am building myself, after recently selling my old Arc build that I had for 3 years, still a tad sad to see it go. Alas, I have begun getting the parts together for my next build, which I have given a name to already: The Invoke System.

This is a build I have been waiting to purchase for quite a while, and am very happy to be able to get on my way with getting all the components I so desperately crave.

To this date, the parts which I currently have bought include:

  • Intel i5-4670K
  • Corsair H60 AIO
  • MSI GTX 760 2GB Gaming Edition
  • Corsair Vengeance Pro 8GB
  • Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD
  • Seagate 2TB Barracuda 7200RPM HDD
  • Samsung F4 2TB 5400 RPM HDD
  • Silverstone Strider 750W
  • Silverstone PP05 Short Cables
  • A bunch of Silverstone PP07 black Cable Extensions
  • Some sleeved SATA cables
  • Silverstone SDP10B Bay Converter
  • Silverstone FP57 Hotswap HDD Bay Adapter
  • Silverstone Red LED Strip

Some other goodies I have include:
  • Razer Black Widow Keyboard
  • Razer Death Adder Mouse
  • Razer Tiamat 7.1 Headset
  • BenQ XL2420TE 24in LED 144Hz Monitor
  • LED Desk Mount

Only two things I am waiting to arrive down here in Melbourne include the Silverstone TJ08-EW Window Edition and the MSI Z87M Gaming Edition motherboard.

Future updates include adding another 8GB of memory to push it up to 16GB, get a 4TB Seagate to hotswap around the place, and a second card to run SLI.

Here are a few pictures I took of the things I have so far. Tried to get some good photos of each thing.

Let me know what you think

Very exciting day today! The store I purchase from, PC Case Gear, listed the TJ08EW for arrival today and I have placed my pre-order so I can pick it up today!
One of the best ways to start off the new year.

Sorry about poor lighting, but just wanted to get a photo of the case as it arrived today!:wiggle:
Now to begin putting some components in, and to wait until the Z87M arrives in Oz.
More photos to arrive later on.

Currently at work, have a few more photos to upload later, don't have the mobile speeds to do it here. Progress so far includes getting the 3.5 drives in, the ssd placed and thr hotswap bay added. PSU is in place but need to change cables around. Stay tuned for more

Okay so been really busy with work and such, so here is one of the better photos I took last week.

Here are a few more progress shots.

With the right panel off showing off the interior.

The 180mm AP fan and reverse motherboard tray.

With the roof, left panel and drive cage removed.

The hotswap bay added to the top 5.25 bay. Can't see it because of the bay cover, but have a second HDD added in a bracket in the second bay.

Handy, I dare say.

Will take some more photos when I'm home tomorrow. Enjoying a few beers with missus and mates.

Hello again.

Was able to take some more photos this evening, after trying to hide as many of the front I/O cables as possible behind the motherboard tray. Disconnected the PSU cables (I forget how good modular cables are) and placed the PSU in its section in the roof. Placed my SSD in it's final place too, so there is that.

SSD on top of 3.5 bay, wish I had something to cover up the end of the 3.5 underneath it as it shows through the window and is kind of ugly looking. Any hints or ideas on cost effective possibilities would be welcome.

Different angle showing more of the fan and some of the cables showing.

Another thing I got done this evening is mount my new XL2420TE to my monitor arm, which looks fantastic currently.

Currently have it connected to my laptop along with average keyboard and mouse. Potato quality as lighting isn't my strong point yet.

Desk shot of the case in it's final place and the monitor. So. Many. Exposed. Cables. Can't wait to have it finished, cables routed properly and new laptop drawer built. Will make a proper thread in the work area main thread when finished too.

If only I had my motherboard already.....:cussing:

Will keep in touch with more updates to come.

.
have you room to sheet it in something like this

all though this is tall because of psu and pump

Good job so far, but what's with the slower Samsung HDD. Was is new or did you recycle it from a previous build.

Recycled, temporary for now as only using it for music and picture storage. Will be upgrading to 2x 4TB Seagate drives in the future (one internal, one for hotswapping files).

Morning/Evening all. Unluckily, the motherboard was delayed until this Monday, so won't begin putting the entire system together until Tuesday evening. Picked up a few more cables so I can make it slightly tidier when putting it together. Don't want any unwanted cable clutter. Will get back to you all in the near future with more. Cheers.

It would be appreciated if you could double post less (preferably not at al) as it's against the rules of the forums, thanks :)

Shame about the motherboard, waiting is never fun. Let's hope it'll be worth it!

As the gent above says, When you edit your post there is a handy little delete button so you can get rid of the double post and edit in your new answer/info into your previous post.

Looks a lot cleaner too :)
