Project Kali - New beginnings.

Sadly the model I was hoping before has not appeared in any sort of timely manner so I have had a rethink on what I wanted. So I present my proposal for my next system:

Sager NP9380-S (Clevo P370SM3)

17.3" 120Hz 3d ready panel
4930MX Mobile extreme edition
Steelseries keyboard (mod)
4x 4GB 1.35V Samsung YK0
2x GTX780M 4GB GDDR5
2x 330W delta PSU (using dual PSU bridge)
512GB OCZ Vector SSD
Bluray reader

Going to slap an unlocked bios on this bad boy, do some mods to the heatsinks, overclock the living hell out of it and enjoy the dual cards with high refresh rates :D

I'll also be putting the second card in myself.

When I saw 17.3" screen, was wondering why would you do that but then I realized it's a laptop build. :D
Looking forward to this!

That's so much hardware cramped in there. Can't wait to see this happen. I did enjoy the other Kali build logs a lot :)

Will be interesting to see what the beast would look like. Maybe something like this XD

The NP9380 uses sager/clevo's classic look:

(Rubberised wrist rest, brushed aluminium around the keyboard)

I get HDMI 1.4a and a thunderbolt port for display options.

This is the cooling setup:

I'll be replacing the primary GPU heatsink (left) with the AMD version which is a single block combining the core fins with the power fins to create a large single block. It will just need different positioned thermal pads which I will replace with high performance versions.

I'll also be including washers in strategic locations to increase mounting tension.

Looking forward to the outcome Meaker mate, have played about with my P170EM, nothing as fancy as your endeavours, however quite happy with my little upgrades.

i7 3610QM to a i7 3630QM, mSATA 256 M4(OS/Games), 1TB HDD(Storage) and finally a 500gb HDD(Videos).

Played about with the unlocked bios for the GTX 680M, however have returned it to stock, system is plenty quick enough.

The i7 3610 went into my G46VW as well as a mSATA 256 M4 and a 1600*900 Panel, works great as a mobile media center :)

And the original i5 3210m is now powering my wifes W110ER which l got as a barebones.

Keep up the great work dude.

Regards

C.

Been playing around with a 780M (clevo so I can use it as my second card in teh 9380) in my old 16F3 platform getting ready for the new machine.

Unlocked the vbios and I am power limited but my best guess for 24/7 operation is about 1006/1650 (6600 data rate) up from the maximum boost stock of 850/1250 (5000 data rate).

The reason I can get the memory so high is a raise in vmem from 1.5v to 1.64v taking me from 1500 to 1650mhz. Tests show it gains about 5.4% in performance.

I managed to do a little bench at 1046/1625:
