Project Gravitas

Guys, if i had the money to treat myself i would be getting the best, there might be a tiny performance difference - but why not get the best?

A 3770k + a GD65 will out perform a 3820 an X79 GD65 for cheaper.

The only way you could beat the 3770k would be getting the 3930k which is massively more expensive and the only difference you'd see would be in rendering.

In gaming, there's no difference between even the 3570k and 3960X - so it's pointless spending loads on a processor that gives no performance increase when you could put it into more GPU power and actually see a difference

I have to say im with james here

3960x and a top of the range X79 board is about £1100 that is with the X79 X9 board there are more expensive boards out there

i7 3770k and GD65 = £390

so with that £700 i have saved i think i might just treat myself to GTX670 SLI, nice comfy chair, keyboard, mice, headset, 3 monitors, i dont know you pick and decide

3960X is for performance rigs, not gaming rigs, you rendering 24/7? then why spend £800 on a CPU alone

Exactly what i'd do. Triple screens and SLI 670's would be a monster setup.

Thanx to all that have had their input :)

It has given me much to think about...

I should have the build completed by close of this year so stay tuned for pics of the rig...
