Project: Event Horizon

Hello guys and girls,

Finally after many years i have yet to build a water cooled pc. First now i can spend some money on a dream pc and i am very excited personally. Feel free to follow this slow progression as i am located in Denmark where the equipment i acquire have a rather long delivery time.

I have a old Silverstone tj07 that over time took some scratches. I always wanted to mod it so here is the chance. The plan is to cut the middle of the uni-body leaving the frame left. the add a 2 mm aluminium plate all the way around ad a new uni-body for a clean flat surface. Other internal mods will follow as well to clean thing up.

Now for components:

CPU: i7-4770K
RAM: Kingston hyper X 1866 mhz
SSD: Samsung 240 GB
Board: Sabertooth Z87
PSU: Corsair RM 850
GPU: MSI GTX 780 ti Reference
I might return the 780 ti and get a titan black. Not sure yet

A good place to get design ideas from for this *If you are going with the Sam Neil film theme* then have a look at Warhammer 40K's Chaos faction.

Thanks for the ideas, tho this build will be less themed as the movie and more like the scientific happening it self. The build will be minimalistic and more science fiction based.

But do not fear.... i LOVE the movie!

The first steps!

So i found a little time today to work on the uni-body reconstruction. The aluminium plate i use to wrap around is 2 mm thick and bends beautifully around the front curve. Unfortunately i ran out of blind rivets so the work will go on tomorrow.

I really love how easy the aluminium is to work with. soft and strong wile still easy to bend

After the first curve completed i really just sad there speachless
Can not wait to see the final case modded after powdercoating or painted (did not deside yet).

Finished uni-body

So i had some early morning work on the uni-body and i finished. I left a little overlap at the top for now.

In case you do not know what blind rivets is, here is the tools

The finished uni-body for now. the inside will be touched up when i know exactly what what i want to do.

Aaaah sorry :banghead: i am such a noob at the forum posting.

One of the ideas i have for the internal layout. i want "Event Horizon" in scripted to the angled mid plate. Maybe in 3D laser cut letters.

No more work today. Will go grill with the guys. Beer and meat time!
But i will respond if anyone replies
