Project Denver. Nvidia joining the CPU Market.

Could Nvidia possibly take hold of AMD's crown of gaming grade CPUs? Perhaps even going beyond that and locking jaw with Intel and pushing into the extreme market?

Project Denver could possibly bring us the much needed CPU competition the market needs sense AMD has dropped the ball so many times that most fanboys have finally just given up. So, what is your opinion on the possibility of running your rig with a Nvidia CPU?

i like the idea...
if they do bring out a cpu i hope they'll attack intel... would be the best for us all :)

i don't know is there any room on today's CPU market for nVidia? but if they aim their products at a section of the non enthusiast market, we might see Some nVidia powered laptops... maybe who knows, some super advanced gaming rigs with the highest potential yet. Intel needs the competition.\

Bald step, well said.

Interesting. Maybe they're planning on giving AMD some competition in iGPU section? And so come the days we no longer need a graphics card to game. Sad times :p

I am hoping that they aim for the gaming and mainstream CPU market. Give the 3570k and 3770k the much needed competition that Flopdozer and Faildriver so disappointingly failed to deliver .___.

Im thinking they might make gpu servers cheaper as the gpus could have a small onboard cpu and it would save getting a motherboard and it could just use a big backplane and some witchcraft and wizardry...

Nvidia Denver project, IMHO, it will be aiming to the market of smartphones and tablets ! it´s a new architecture to replace the tegra ones!

I can't wait to see this, there is so much potential for this one! Like the ARM core(s) controlling hundreds of smaller CUDA cores!

If they can deliver better performance than AMD (shouldnt be too hard) at a price competitive to intel i would give them a shot and build a Nvidia rig. "Dont knock it till you've tried it" right?

I highly doubt they'd be able to just come into the market and knock off Intel - and that's if the desktop platform is even where they're going with this.

Would be good to see some competition yeah, but I don't really think they'll do that by making gaming CPUs.

If anything, I'd say that the competition between AMD and Nvidia gaming chips would be great for gaming on laptops. Atm, AMD have no competition in the low end laptop market for this. The options are, buy one of the AMD 'gaming' laptops for £400 or spend twice as much and get something from Intel with an i5 and a GT640m or something similar. Hopefully this would make AMD work harder at their gaming CPUs.

Or - as said earlier, it could just be to replace Tegra chips...

would love to see one more cpu company the more of them in market the cheaper we will get product =D

Could prove interesting especially if they do similar to what AMD does, and include a GPU in it and a decent one and allow it to work with a another Nvidia GPU in a Hybrid SLI.

Will be keeping my eye on this.

More competition should be healthy.

AMD may very well cease to be a cpu alternative; either through their choice or because what they produce is basically crap. Very sad as at one time they were an awesome alternative.
